Full Job Description

Our Raleigh-based firm is seeking an experienced Paralegal with strong work experience in the area of workers’ compensation law. The workers' compensation paralegal position provides essential support to attorneys specializing in defending workplace injury cases. Their duties include gathering and analyzing medical records and other case information, drafting correspondence and legal documents, and assisting with trial preparation. They also communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and other parties involved in the claim.

Key Responsibilities:

Client and Case Management: Conducting interviews, gathering information about the workplace injury, and organizing case files.

Medical Record Management: Requesting, reviewing, and analyzing medical records, bills, and other documentation related to the injury.

Preparation of Legal Documents: Drafting, reviewing, and filing pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other legal documents.

Communication and Coordination: Interacting with clients, insurance adjusters, attorneys, court personnel, medical providers, and other parties involved in the case.

Discovery Assistance: Assisting with the discovery process, including preparing and responding to discovery requests, and organizing exhibits.

Trial Preparation: Assisting attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and coordinating logistics.

Calendar Management: Maintaining calendars for court dates, deadlines, other important events, and ensuring timely filing of documents.

Legal Research: Assisting with legal research related to workers' compensation laws and regulations.

Essential Skills:

1-5 years of paralegal experience in workers’ compensation or litigation (preferred).
In addition to paralegal experience, candidate must have at least 1 year of experience as a Legal Assistant required.
Strong Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills are crucial for interacting with various parties.
Organizational Skills: Ability to organize and manage case files, documents, and information efficiently.
Attention to Detail: Accuracy and attention to detail are essential when handling medical records, legal documents, and other sensitive information.
Legal Knowledge: Understanding of workers' compensation laws, procedures, and regulations.
Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with legal software, case management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and e-filing.
Ability to Work Independently (and part of a team): Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.

Experience with Clio is a plus.

While this is a virtual position, all employees must be located in North Carolina. Work hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
