The Level C Automotive Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on vehicles while developing technical knowledge and proficiency across automotive systems. This position works under the direction of experienced technicians and management to complete assigned work safely, accurately, and efficiently.
The Level C Technician is expected to demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, follow established repair procedures, properly use tools and diagnostic equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. This position provides an opportunity to develop the skills and experience necessary for advancement to higher technician levels.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and assigned vehicle services.

Complete basic repairs involving brakes, suspension, steering, tires, fluids, batteries, and other vehicle components.

Assist with more complex repairs under the direction of higher-level technicians.

Follow manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and established repair processes.

Perform post-repair inspections and verify work has been completed properly.
- Perform basic mechanical and electrical diagnostics using appropriate tools and equipment.

Identify common vehicle issues and communicate findings to the Lead or higher-level Technician.

Assist with diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of more complex vehicle systems.

Learn to properly interpret diagnostic codes, test results, and manufacturer information.

Seek assistance when a repair or diagnostic issue exceeds current skill level.
- Conduct assigned vehicle inspections and identify maintenance or repair concerns.

Accurately document inspection findings and recommended repairs.

Verify completed repairs meet company quality and safety standards.

Notify management or senior technicians of safety concerns, unexpected damage, or additional repair needs.
- Maintain accurate work orders, repair records, parts usage, and labor documentation.

Document work performed and communicate incomplete or follow-up work.

Properly record diagnostic findings and repair recommendations.

Ensure required documentation is completed before a vehicle is returned to the customer.
- Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers regarding vehicle concerns and completed work.

Ask appropriate questions to understand customer concerns.

Explain basic repairs and maintenance recommendations clearly and professionally.

Communicate problems, delays, or additional repair needs to the appropriate supervisor or technician.

Work cooperatively with other technicians and shop personnel.
- Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and manufacturer safety guidelines.

Properly operate vehicle lifts, hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and other shop equipment after appropriate training.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Properly store tools, equipment, parts, and materials.
-
Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or safety concerns.
- Participate in required technical, safety, and product training.

Develop proficiency in automotive diagnostic and repair procedures.

Seek opportunities to expand knowledge and technical capabilities.

Work with senior technicians and supervisors to develop skills required for advancement.

Maintain awareness of current automotive technologies, repair methods, and equipment.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
-
Vocational, technical school, or automotive training preferred.
-
Previous automotive, mechanical, maintenance, or related hands-on experience preferred.

Entry-level automotive technician experience will be considered.
-
ASE certification or automotive certification is preferred but not required.

Previous experience in automotive repair, maintenance, or vehicle upfitting is a plus.
- Basic understanding of automotive mechanical and electrical systems.

- Work primarily in an automotive repair and vehicle upfit shop environment.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working in confined areas.

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull automotive parts, tools, equipment, and materials as required.

Frequent use of hands, wrists, arms, and fingers when operating tools and equipment.

Ability to safely work around vehicle lifts, moving equipment, electrical systems, fluids, chemicals, and other automotive hazards.

Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, fumes, dust, grease, oils, and other typical automotive shop conditions.

Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.

Ability to safely perform assigned duties for the duration of the scheduled shift.
