Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a key operational partner in supporting approximately 400 team members across multiple hospital locations. This role is responsible for delivering high-impact HR services that support employee relations, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, and organizational culture. The HR Generalist works closely with the HR Director and hospital leadership to ensure policies, processes, and programs are executed consistently and effectively.
This position requires strong judgment, discretion, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced veterinary specialty and emergency environment.

Primary Responsibilities (Highest Impact / Strategic HR Functions)
1. Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Partner with managers to address employee relations matters, including employee concerns, investigations, mediations, performance improvement plans (PIPs), and corrective action documentation.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers to ensure consistent and fair application of policies.
- Identify patterns in employee relations concerns and escalate trends to the HR Director to develop proactive solutions.
- Support a culture of accountability, professionalism, and respectful communication across all hospital locations.
2. Leave Administration & Workplace Accommodations
- Process and manage all leaves of absence, including FMLA, medical leave, and personal leave.
- Coordinate and administer ADA accommodation requests, engaging in the interactive process with employees and managers.
- Maintain trackers for staff transitions, leaves, FMLA, light duty assignments, and return-to-work timelines.
- Process and manage workers’ compensation claims and coordinate injury investigations in partnership with management.
- Ensure documentation and compliance with all federal and state regulations.
3. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition Operations
- Run and facilitate weekly recruiting meetings for NorthStar.
- Maintain and update the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to ensure accurate candidate records.
- Plan and coordinate interviews for visiting candidates, including scheduling logistics and onsite coordination.
- Approve and remove job postings within the HRMS system.
- Complete all pre-hire processes, including:
- Background checks
- Drug screens
- Licensure and credential verifications
- Reference checks (as applicable)
- Prepare and distribute offer letters and compensation increase requests for the PASE location.
4. Onboarding & Offboarding
- Provide orientation for all new team members across all locations.
- Manage onboarding steps including documentation, system access, compliance requirements, and hospital integration.
- Handle offboarding processes including exit documentation, system updates, and transition coordination.
- Maintain accurate trackers for staff transitions.
Operational & Compliance Responsibilities
5. HR Operations & Inbox Management
- Monitor and respond to all NSV and PASE HR inbox communications.
- Diagnose HR-related issues and resolve concerns with appropriate support from the HR Director.
- Identify recurring issues and escalate trends to leadership to support process improvement.
6. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
- Support compliance with OSHA regulations and workplace safety documentation.
- Coordinate and complete EEO-1 reporting requirements.
- Assist in ensuring HR practices align with federal, state, and local employment laws.
7. Rabies Vaccine Program Coordination
- Plan and schedule the annual rabies vaccination and titer program across all locations.
- Coordinate logistics with medical teams and vendors.
- Maintain compliance documentation.
Administrative & Culture-Building Responsibilities
8. Workplace Resources & Facilities Tracking
- Maintain uniform allowance records for each employee and coordinate distribution through the uniform store.
- Maintain locker tracking logs; assign lockers at onboarding and remove assignments upon termination.
9. Engagement & Wellness Initiatives
- Plan and coordinate engaging team-building activities and wellness events across locations.
- Support initiatives that promote employee morale, retention, and organizational culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of progressive HR experience required.
- Experience in multi-site environments strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, OSHA, workers’ compensation, and general employment law.
- Experience using HRIS/HRMS systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of discretion and professionalism.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
