Summary
McElroy Metal is seeking a Manufacturing Accountant (Cost & Inventory Management) to join our Corporate Accounting team in Bossier City, Louisiana. In this role, you'll analyze product costs, maintain standard costing, oversee inventory accounting, and provide financial insights that support operational performance. You'll partner closely with manufacturing and operations leaders to improve costing accuracy, strengthen inventory controls, and help drive informed business decisions. About the Division
The Accounting Department resides at the Headquarters for McElroy Metal. Comprising over a hundred employee-owners, the corporate location has several departments that support our manufacturing, sales and retail departments.
Hours
8:00 am – 5:00 pm M-F
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update standard costs, including work center and run rates.
- Analyze manufacturing variances, margins, and production costs.
- Perform monthly manufacturing close activities, including cost and inventory journal entries.
- Manage inventory accounting for raw materials, finished goods, and accessories.
- Coordinate physical inventories and investigate inventory variances.
- Support manufacturing and retail locations with inventory and work order issues.
- Train division personnel on inventory processes and best practices.
- Maintain cost data within the ERP system and support inventory and cost-related transactions.
- Support annual LIFO inventory calculations.
- Identify opportunities to improve costing and inventory accuracy.
Experience/Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- 2+ years of accounting experience preferred.
- Manufacturing or cost accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems required; JD Edwards experience is a strong plus.
- Advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to manufacturing and retail locations.
