Full Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Production Manager

DEPARTMENT: Production

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

SUPPORTS: Field / Administration / Sales

POSITIONS UNDER DIRECT SUPERVISION: Foremen, Mechanics, Project Managers

Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Project Management

Maintain and manage the company production schedule and Production Board.
Coordinate pre-construction planning for upcoming projects.
Order materials and schedule deliveries to job sites.
Schedule field crews and equipment to maximize productivity.
Coordinate project execution with foremen and project managers.
Monitor projects to ensure completion on time and within budget.
Approve field payroll and track labor productivity.

Field Team Leadership

Recruit, hire, and develop field personnel.
Provide coaching and leadership to foremen and crew members.
Schedule and conduct annual employee reviews.
Identify training needs and coordinate ongoing field training.
Handle disciplinary actions and terminations in accordance with company policies.

Financial & Change Order Management

Manage project costs to maintain profitability.
Assist with pricing and documentation of change orders.
Develop and implement strategies to obtain change orders when needed.
Assist in securing prompt customer payments when required.

Safety & Risk Management

Ensure all jobs are properly posted with required safety notices.
Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance.
Verify all required safety equipment is present and operational.
Ensure jobs are planned to minimize risk to workers and property.
Immediately report incidents and ensure foremen complete incident reports.
Identify nearby emergency services for each job site.

Quality Control

Ensure projects meet manufacturer specifications and installation standards.
Monitor field performance and workmanship quality.
Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and manufacturers.
Communicate project status with homeowners or clients when necessary.
Identify opportunities for profitable improvements or change orders.

Qualifications

Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to anticipate and prevent potential issues
Proficiency with computers and construction scheduling software
Knowledge of residential roofing, siding, or exterior construction preferred
Valid driver’s license
