About Careful Counseling

Careful Counseling is a clinician-led, multidisciplinary mental health practice providing thoughtful, evidence-based, and personalized care in Boston and Brookline, MA. Our team includes clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, school psychologists, and psychiatric providers affiliated with leading Boston-area hospitals.

We are expanding our neuropsychological assessment services at our Back Bay office and are seeking a licensed clinical neuropsychologist who values diagnostic clarity, practical recommendations, and collaborative care.

The Position

The neuropsychologist will conduct comprehensive evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing concerns related to attention, learning, memory, executive functioning, emotional functioning, or neurological conditions.

Our evaluations are designed to help clients and families better understand how they think, learn, and function in everyday life. We emphasize clear communication, supportive feedback, and recommendations that clients can practically implement at school, work, and home.

The position is based at our newly opened Back Bay office at 376 Boylston Street, conveniently located approximately one minute from the Arlington Green Line station.

Areas of Assessment

Evaluations may address:

ADHD and attention difficulties
Autism spectrum disorder
Learning differences and academic challenges
Executive functioning difficulties
Memory concerns and cognitive changes
Emotional and behavioral functioning
Traumatic brain injury and neurological conditions
Diagnostic clarification and treatment planning
Academic or workplace accommodations

Responsibilities

Conduct initial consultations and comprehensive clinical interviews
Select individualized neuropsychological and psychological assessment batteries
Administer, score, and interpret standardized assessment measures
Evaluate cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioral functioning
Integrate assessment findings into clear diagnostic formulations
Prepare comprehensive written reports with personalized recommendations
Conduct feedback sessions with clients and families using accessible, understandable language
Coordinate with schools, physicians, therapists, and other providers when appropriate
Support clients and families in translating recommendations into meaningful next steps
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
Participate in the continued development of Careful Counseling’s neuropsychological assessment program

Qualifications

PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or neuropsychology
Active Massachusetts psychologist license in good standing
Formal training and supervised experience in neuropsychological assessment
Experience evaluating children, adolescents, adults, or a combination of these populations
Demonstrated competence in test administration, interpretation, diagnostic formulation, and report writing
Strong clinical writing and interpersonal communication skills
Commitment to culturally responsive, evidence-based, and individualized care
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
Board certification or eligibility in clinical neuropsychology is welcomed but not required
