Job Title: Associate Dean for Academic Resource Center
Salary Range: $100,000-$110,000 annually
FLSA Status: Exempt

This is an exempt position and is not covered under the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Please note that this position is funded through an external grant. Continued employment in this role is contingent upon the availability and renewal of grant funding.
Position Overview:
The Associate Dean of the Academic Resource Center (ARC) plays a key role in ensuring the department staff and key initiatives are in place and highly effective as we work to support the retention and persistence of the undergraduate students at MassArt. This role is responsible for providing management and oversight for all areas and staff associated with the Academic Resource Center. The ARC is composed of 4 primary areas: Academic Advising, Tutoring and Coaching, Student Accessibility Services, and the Aspire Program. The Dean provides leadership in each of these areas and supervises a team of approximately 6 full-time staff and 8 part-time staff.
In addition, a key aspect of the day-to-day role for the Dean is the tracking of student success metrics including leaves of absence and withdrawal data, follow up to probation and academic warning students, and outreach to inactive students. This role also monitors reports that reflect student registration and manages appropriate communication and outreach to ensure all undergraduate students are informed and supported within and between each semester. The Dean plays a key role in managing cases and alerts on our student success platform, CRM Advise, in order to provide appropriate and timely interventions for students. This position also provides support to faculty on student related classroom issues and leads the Academic Response Team (ART).
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership for the mission and direction of the Academic Resource Center includes the development of policies and procedures, guiding staff and colleagues, effective management of current programs, and the development of new programs that will maximize the impact on the success of our undergraduate students.
- The effective management of full-time and part-time staff that includes recruiting, hiring, training, and providing feedback on job performance. This role also sets appropriate schedules for each staff member and monitors workload. They will hold weekly staff meetings with the team and ensure effective departmental communication and support.
- Develop strategies for outreach and follow up with students on Academic Probation or Academic Notice. This role collaborates with faculty, coaches and advisors to create plans and strategies that support academic improvement.
- Provides oversight into the provision of accommodation for all students with disabilities including classroom and studio accommodation, as well as housing accommodation. Ensures that ARC staff provide appropriate technology to students with disabilities.
- Works closely with the Program Coordinator for Student Success Initiatives in developing programs to support the academic and artistic needs of students. This includes the recruitment and management of Peer Tutors and graduate assistants.
- Coordinates with Academic Advising staff to focus their work on enhanced degree planning, academic requirements, major exploration and registration assistance. Additionally supports the work and overall training of faculty advisors.
- Provides oversight for the Aspire program and Aspire Coordinator. This program offers education opportunities to individuals with intellectual disabilities in local communities.
- Provides oversight for the Leave of Absence process in collaboration with the Registrar and Counseling Center.
- Collaborate with Compass Coordinator to provide additional support to Compass students.
- Collaborate with International Programs to provide additional support to international students.
- Collaborate with academic department chairs to understand the needs of students and develop ways that ARC can be supportive.

Required Education and Experience:
- 8 years or more of related work experience
- 5 years or more of professional staff supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities necessary to perform job duties successfully:
- Degree in arts, higher education or a related field.
- Excels at working collaboratively with others and for implementing and managing change within an academic and artistic community.
