Full Job Description

The Ren Lab is located in the Gordon Center for Medical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Leveraging a full spectrum of state-of-the-art research facilities and collaborations with many world-renowned institutions in the greater Boston area, including MIT, Harvard, Broad, and BU, the lab enjoys a highly interdisciplinary and intellectually stimulating scientific environment.

The lab is committed to providing a nurturing environment for passionate scientists and engineers to come together and engage in multidisciplinary collaborations to address the most pressing challenges at the forefront of today’s biology and medicine. + For Prospective Graduate and Senior Undergraduate

The lab currently seeks highly motivated graduate and senior undergraduate students to work at the interfaces of imaging, nanotechnology, and computational science with broad biomedical applications, such as brain mapping and Alzheimer’s Disease. The goal of the lab is to understand complex biological systems by developing large-scale imaging and mapping methodologies. The team integrates photonic, biochemical, and computational approaches to enable quantitative investigation in fully-assembled biosystems at the ‘ground truth’ level, addressing the fundamentals of these systems in a systematic and scalable manner. The Ren Lab also aims to develop enabling medical tools empowered by new photonic devices and to integrate complementary modalities for a wide range of clinical applications, such as intraoperative guidance.

We welcome students of all disciplines, including but not limited to the following:

Optical imaging
Biochemistry, including polymer science, nanoparticle synthesize
Signal processing
Computational techniques, such as parallel computing, computer vision, machine learning, AR/VR, and 3D graphics

The lab will provide hands-on training directly with the Principal Investigator and the experts in their respective fields. Students will also have opportunities to contribute to or lead research publications. We can host and support students from many institutions across Greater Boston, including MIT, Harvard, HST, Boston University, Northeastern University, and Tufts University. Both short-term and long-term positions are available on flexible schedules.
