Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated reading instructor to joing our small team. Juniper Street Tutoring, LLC sees students of all ages and backgrounds in their homes, local libraries, and online.

We are looking to expand our support for dyslexic students. If you have a love of language and teaching experience, we will train you to implement an evidence-based, structured literacy Tier 3 program to students with dyslexia. Prior experience as a reading specialist is preferred, but not required. We are happy to train you and invest time in someone who wants to grow with our business and become part of the JST family long term. This is a highly structured program with a curriculum to follow, but those with backgrounds as educators and experience adapting and using critical thinking skills are best.

The position is part-time with a 6 week training period to start. You will build your client list steadily as new students join us. Teaching hours are after school, but prep time is flexible to your schedule. You are a full W-2 employee with us, and we manage all of your scheduling, billing, and training materials. Your time driving between clients and lesson prepping is paid. We also reimburse mileage, device usage and printing, and now have health insurance for employees working at least 20 hours a week.

Pay range reflects training vs. teaching pay, as well as experience.

Duties

Undergo 6 week training with company founder and WRS to begin implementing the reading program.
Develop and implement lesson plans following the reading program methodology.
Connect with students to help them build their confidence as young readers
Assess student performance through sessions, homework, and tests.
Maintain accurate records of academic progress according to the reading program methodology.
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional strategies and share best practices.

Qualifications

A degree from a recognized university is required, BA/BS minimum.
Teaching License highly preferred.
Previous teaching experience in a relevant subject area is highly preferred.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse groups of students.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Learning and teaching ALL the rules of English requires attention to the smallest units of language.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
