Lead Interior Designer – 1099 Independent Contractor

Boulder Design Group LLC | Boulder, CO
$30–$45/hour, depending on experience | 1099 Independent Contractor | Primarily Remote

Interior design is a mirror of the soul.

Boulder Design Group LLC, the design studio and sister company of Veron Builders LLC, is looking for an experienced Lead Interior Designer to work with our team as a 1099 independent contractor.

We specialize in high-end residential remodeling and design-build projects throughout Boulder County and the surrounding area. Our projects range from kitchens and bathrooms to whole-home renovations, additions, and comprehensive remodels.

We are looking for an experienced designer with a strong background in residential design, excellent organizational skills, a high level of attention to detail, and strong technical knowledge of cabinetry and remodeling.

IMPORTANT: 2020 Design Experience Is Required

Professional experience with 2020 Design Live is non-negotiable.

About Boulder Design Group & Veron Builders

Boulder Design Group and Veron Builders work together to provide clients with a complete design + build remodeling experience.

Our Louisville showroom provides a space for clients to meet with our design team, review materials and finishes, and develop their projects. Our design team works closely with homeowners, contractors, vendors, and trade partners throughout the remodeling process.

The Opportunity

As a Lead Interior Designer, you will work independently on residential remodeling projects while collaborating with our design and construction teams.

The position is primarily remote, with project-related client meetings, showroom appointments, field measurements, and job-site visits in the Boulder County area.

Responsibilities may include:

Developing interior design concepts for residential remodeling projects
Creating kitchen and bathroom designs using 2020 Design Live
Producing design renderings, layouts, and presentations
Taking accurate field measurements
Developing cabinetry layouts and specifications
Working with cabinetry vendors and coordinating cabinetry orders
Preparing material selections and finish schedules
Assisting clients with cabinetry, countertops, tile, plumbing fixtures, hardware, lighting, flooring, paint, and other finishes
Developing and maintaining material budgets
Communicating with homeowners throughout the design process
Coordinating design information with contractors, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
Attending client meetings, showroom appointments, and job-site visits as needed for projects
Reviewing projects in the field to help ensure the design is executed accurately
Managing multiple projects and deadlines
Maintaining organized project files, selections, specifications, and client communications

Required Qualifications

Several years of professional interior design experience
Professional 2020 Design Live experience – REQUIRED
Strong residential design experience
Kitchen and bathroom design experience
Strong cabinetry design experience
Ability to take accurate field measurements
Understanding of residential remodeling and construction
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Strong attention to detail
Strong communication and client-service skills
Ability to work independently and manage your own projects
Comfortable meeting with homeowners and presenting design concepts
Reliable transportation for client meetings, showroom appointments, and job sites
Professional portfolio demonstrating residential design work

Preferred Experience

Experience with the following is highly preferred:

Canyon Creek Cabinetry
Dura Supreme Cabinetry
Other high-end cabinetry, plumbing, countertop, tile, hardware, and finish vendors

Experience with cabinet design, specifications, ordering, and installation coordination is especially valuable.

Compensation & Contractor Structure

$30–$45/hour, depending on experience
1099 independent contractor position
Primarily remote work with project-related showroom, client, and job-site visits
