Travel RN – Operating Room - Colorado

Must have:

Minimum experience: 2-3 years of recent Operating Room experience required

License: Colorado or compact state license required

Certifications: BLS and ACLS required

Length of Assignment: 13 weeks

Start Date: 9/07/2026

Shift: Days – 40 hours per week (4x10s)

$3000 weekly

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Operating Room (OR) procedures to join our dynamic healthcare team in Colorado. This role offers an exciting opportunity for experienced nurses to provide exceptional perioperative care across diverse hospital settings, including Level I and Level II trauma centers, emergency departments, and surgical units. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of surgical nursing practices, advanced clinical skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to new environments. As a Travel RN in the OR, you will play a vital role in supporting patient safety, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes, and maintaining high standards of aseptic technique and patient care documentation.

Duties

Deliver expert perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures within the operating room environment.
Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all necessary sterile equipment, supplies, and instruments are available and properly sterilized.
Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures, including suturing, catheterization, and managing airway or ventilator support.
Monitor patient vital signs continuously and respond promptly to any changes or emergencies during surgery.
Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to prevent contamination.
Document all patient care activities accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient assessments, preoperative preparations, and postoperative care plans.
Participate in ongoing training related to advanced surgical techniques such as Botulinum toxin treatment or ophthalmology procedures when applicable.
Support triage assessments for incoming patients requiring urgent surgical interventions or critical care management.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Skills

Proven experience working in operating rooms within hospital settings, including Level I or Level II trauma centers.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques relevant to surgical nursing.
Experience with advanced procedures including catheterization, suturing, IV infusion management, ventilator support, and specimen collection.
Familiarity with infection control standards and sterile processing protocols.
Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and respond effectively during critical events or emergencies.
Excellent communication skills for collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and support staff.
Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/10) for accurate documentation; experience with CPT coding is a plus.
Adaptability to diverse clinical environments with varying patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, trauma patients, and individuals with disabilities.
Commitment to ongoing professional development in areas such as trauma medicine, infectious disease care, pain management, or specialized surgical procedures.
