Full Job Description

The Director of Human Resources is a vital leadership role, responsible for aligning HR strategies with the Humane Society of Boulder Valley’s mission and values. The Director provides comprehensive HR guidance and support across the entire employee lifecycle, encompassing workforce planning, talent acquisition, employe relations, performance management, and total rewards. This role is instrumental in fostering a supportive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture while continuously strengthening HR processes, systems, communication, and the overall employee experience.

As a member of the executive leadership team and reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Human Resources will align employee and volunteer development to our values and provide quality care to the people who make our mission possible. Key Areas of Responsibility

Workforce planning and development: Responsible for employee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding and the employee lifecycle.
Employee relations: Works closely with leadership to create a positive, respectful, and productive work environment.
Total rewards: Administers HSBV’s compensation and benefits package designed to attract, retain, and engage employees while ensuring equity in pay and benefits practices.
Training and development: Partners with department managers to identify training needs and implement training programs to improve skills and enhance knowledge and productivity.
Compliance: Ensures HSBV’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
HRIS: Responsible for human resource functions in UKG Ready.
Organizational leadership: Serves as a member of HSBV’s executive leadership team and aligns HSBV’s personnel practices with strategic goals.
Fiscal accountability: Responsible for administering the salary and benefit budget of almost $5M; helping directors effectively manage resources, both people and dollars, for the maximum benefit of the organization.
Workplace safety: Collaborates in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSBV's workplace safety program, including workers' compensation administration.

What We Offer

The starting pay range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 earned annually by a full-time employee regularly scheduled 40 hours per week. Compensation will be based on factors including but not limited to the depth and extent of relevant experience, education, and additional training/certifications for preferred skills. Additional compensation available for qualified employees who demonstrate the ability to translate for our Spanish-speaking clientele. ;

Experience and Education

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, accounting, organizational development or relevant field preferred. A minimum of three years of progressive human resources management experience a plus. Or five years of strong management or administrative experience will be considered. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred. A pre-employment background check and drug screen are required for all employment candidates.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and planning skills
Working knowledge or federal and Colorado employment laws, HR best practices, employee relations, leave administration, comp and benefits admin, and compliance requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
Ability to support leadership while maintaining confidentiality, discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism.
A strong commitment to the mission, values, and goals of HSBV.
