Job description

Ellipse Analytics, a Boulder area analytical chemistry laboratory, is looking for an analytical chemist to join our team of high-energy, passionate, hard-working individuals. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, entrepreneurial minded company. Ellipse uses its data and science to solve real world problems for the consumers, brands, and retailers who serve them. Through testing and certification programs, Ellipse helps society identify and quantify toxic chemicals and other forms of industrial contamination that are endemic to the food supply. Category data and analytics are used to provide unique, compelling, and important insights to brand owners, non-profits, and consumers. Ellipse helps brands innovate in ways that matter. The position reports to the Lab Management Team and works closely with a team of highly trained laboratory personnel operating within an ISO 17025 accredited analytical chemistry lab.

The position is responsible for working with laboratory staff and completing projects on time. Instrument operation, data analysis, and reporting will be the primary tasks for this role. The successful candidate will work closely with other chemists, technicians, and management. They shall have strong organizational skills and show careful attention to detail while having an appreciation of the overarching goals of the lab.

Responsibilities -

Instrument set up for analysis
Instrument maintenance/troubleshooting
Data analysis and reporting
Maintenance of lab equipment (scales, balances, etc.)
Standards Preparation
Reagent Preparation
Sample Preparation
Method development
Method validation
Sample log in

Minimum Requirements -

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or a closely aligned field
1-3 years of experience in a production analytical chemistry lab
1+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas
ICP/MS analysis
LC-MS/MS analysis
GC-MS/MS analysis
LC & GC Analysis software experience, such as Mass Hunter or Sciex OS
Demonstrated experience in analytical chemistry
Strong attention to detail
Strong oral and written communication skills
Leadership and training skills
Data review in accordance with industry best practices

Preferred Qualifications -

LC & GC Analysis software experience, such as Mass Hunter or Sciex OS
Familiarity with ISO 17025
Pesticides analysis
Presenting ideas and information to leadership
Adaptable in a dynamic work environment
Comfortable working in a small business environment
Microsoft Office experience
Master of Science
ICP/ MS troubleshooting, method development and validation
LC-MS/MS troubleshooting, method development, and validation
GC-MS/MS troubleshooting, method development, and validation
