REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED
Three years of athletic experience as a coach, coordinator, athletic director or other relevant role involving
student supervision
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, coaches, staff, and the public
Commitment to student-centered participation and safety
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge of District policies, KHSAA regulation, safety procedures, and emergency plans
Command of fundamental rules for athletic supervision and facility management
Ability to interpret, apply, and enforce policies, procedures, and regulations
Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor and proactively solve problems in complex or stressful
situations and remain highly visible
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Event Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing athletic events at assigned middle or high school
sites, ensuring after-hours are conducted in a safe, organized, and professional manner in alignment with
district policies and KHSAA regulations. The Event Manager acts as the on-site lead for pre-event setup, event
supervision, and post-event operations, serving as a liaison between coaches, officials, staff, and the general
public.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES & EVALUATION CRITERIA
Pre-Event:
Confirms event schedule details, including date, time, teams, officials, locations, and other requirements related
to the event
Prepares facilities, ensuring completion of appropriate field/court set up and facility access (such as restrooms,
gates, locker rooms, etc.)
Conducts routine safety checks for hazards and functionality (such as lighting equipment) and maintains ongoing
observance of safety throughout events
Assigns, briefs, and supports event staff, including but not limited to ticketing, supervision, concessions, etc.
Greets and assists visiting teams and officials
Remains current regarding emergency protocols (AED, weather delays, evacuation routes and procedures, for
example) and implements successfully as needed
