REMOTE POSITION & HOURS
Hours: 8:00am PST – 4:30pm PST or 9:00am PST– 6:30pm PST (Depends on company’s need)
Days: Monday – Friday (U.S. time zone hours)
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Paralegal for Underwriting, the following will be your duties:
· Training will be provided.
· You will be an unbiased third party to evaluate potential client cases. You will assess the cases' likelihood of winning and estimate the projected settlement amount to advise us on the amount we should offer them. Case types include but are not limited to car accidents, slips and falls, premises, etc.
· As an underwriter for High Rise Financial , you will work with our Sales and Medical teams to evaluate the strength of our pre-settlement funding cases, determining approval or denials.
· Evaluate personal injury cases and assess their likelihood of a successful outcome and projected settlement value.
· Follow documented handbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs) while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
· Review legal documentation, medical records, police reports, insurance information, and other supporting evidence.
· Analyze liability, damages, insurance coverage, prior accidents, existing liens, and injury severity to determine case value.
· Provide underwriting recommendations to support funding decisions.
· Maintain accurate case documentation while ensuring timely and high-quality evaluations.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
· Minimum 6 years of experience as paralegal/case manager for a personal injury firm
· Very strong knowledge of Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA), Premises Liability, and Slip and Fall claims.
· Preferred: Prior experience in medical funding, factoring, or legal finance.
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
· Someone with an analytical mind, skilled at looking at many factors and a myriad of information to solve issues and problems.
· Attention to detail is key: every detail in an insurance policy can affect the decision to offer coverage and missing one can cost the company money.
· Comfort with computers and using mathematics on a daily basis.
· Excellent written/verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and telephone manners.
· Cool and calm under pressure, you follow through on tasks quickly and efficiently.
· Have a quiet place at home to work in
