Pastry-Baker Assistant / Sandwich Chef - Aurore French Bakery (141 W Baxter Ln, Bozeman, MT)
Full-time (35–40h/week) - $17/hour + tips (avg. $5/hour) - Tuesday through Sunday
Bonjour!
Aurore French Bakery brings authentic French pastries, breads, and café culture to Bozeman. We are looking for a Pastry-Baker Assistant / Sandwich Chef to support production, prepare sandwiches, and help maintain a clean, efficient kitchen.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced, and physically demanding role. You will be involved in both pastry production and savory preparation, working closely with the Pastry Chef and Sauce Chef to keep everything running smoothly.
About the Role
You are part of the core production team. You:
- Stay organized and move with speed and precision
- Support both pastry and savory production
- Keep your station clean and efficient at all times
- Step in wherever needed to support the team
There is always something to do — this role requires energy, focus, and consistency.
Core Responsibilities:
Pastry Production Support
- Assist with daily pastry production
- One day per week, independently produce items such as:
- Éclairs
- Tartelettes
- Macarons
- Other French pastries
- Follow recipes and maintain high-quality standards
Prep & Fillings
- Prepare fillings and sauces, including: Crème pâtissière, Lemon curd, Fruit compotes and coulis, Icings and specialty fillings (Croinamon, etc.)
- Maintain consistency, cleanliness, and organization
Sandwich & Savory Production
- Prepare French-style sandwiches, including Baguette sandwiches & Croque-Monsieur with béchamel
- Ensure quality, speed, and consistency during service
Kitchen Organization & Cleaning
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and front areas
- Wash dishes continuously and keep stations reset
- Follow food safety and cleanliness standards at all times
Operations Support
- Estimate ingredient needs and flag low inventory
- Contribute ideas for improving recipes or production
- Support overall team flow and efficiency
Schedule
- Tuesday and Sunday: 4 AM ~ 2:00 PM
- Friday, and Saturday: 8:00 AM ~ 6:00 PM
- Hours may vary slightly depending on production needs, but this is the base schedule
- Full-time, year-round (not seasonal)
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in baking, pastry, or cooking is helpful but not required
- High energy and physically capable (able to lift up to 55 lbs)
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent
- Coachable and open to feedback
- Able to work fast and stay focused under pressure
- Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods
- Curious and interested in French baking and culture
Not a Fit If You
- Prefer a slow-paced or low-structure environment
- Can’t work early mornings or weekends
- Don’t enjoy physical, hands-on work
- Struggle with teamwork or direction
- Are not looking for a long-term role
