Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate Musical Theatre Instructor to join our team for the 2026–2027 season.
This role involves teaching students in a structured, growth-focused program that integrates acting, singing, and movement. The ideal candidate is both a skilled performer and a strong educator who loves working with children and is excited to invest in their development.
Timeline & Commitment
- Hiring for: 2026–2027 Season
- Onboarding & Training: Summer 2026
- Classes Begin: August 2026
- Part-time, weekly classes (afternoons/evenings)
Our Program Structure
- Fall Semester: Technique-based training focused on acting, vocal performance, and movement
- Spring Semester: Show preparation and performance
- Classes are age and level-based, allowing for progressive skill development
- We also offer an audition-based program for middle and high school students seeking a more advanced, performance-focused experience
What You’ll Do
- Teach weekly Musical Theatre classes for elementary through middle school students (ages may vary)
- Lead engaging warm-ups in voice, movement, and acting
- Teach foundational skills in:
- Acting and character development
- Vocal performance and expression
- Basic choreography and staging
- Guide students through both technique training and performance preparation
- Prepare students for showcases and performances as part of a collaborative, department-wide theatre production
- Collaborate with the theatre team to contribute to a unified production vision
- Create a positive, structured, and encouraging classroom environment
Who We’re Looking For
- Experience in musical theatre (acting + singing; dance experience a plus)
- Experience teaching or working with children
- Strong classroom leadership and communication skills
- Organized, reliable, and professional
- A team player who values collaboration within a theatre production team
- Ability to teach both technical skill-building and performance preparation
- A heart for mentoring students and building confidence in young performers
