POSITION SUMMARY
Trinity United Methodist Church is one of the largest worshipping communities in the Manatee County. The Church is blessed with a talented lay leadership team and a strong staff. Trinity United Methodist Church is seeking a Director of Modern Worship who will lead, shape, and cultivate dynamic modern worship experiences that are rooted in the mission and theology of the United Methodist Church. This leader will create environments where people can encounter God through music, creativity, and authentic expression, while remaining grounded in Wesleyan theology and practice. The Director of Modern Worship will collaborate with pastoral leadership to ensure that worship is aligned with the church’s vision, forming disciples through meaningful and engaging worship gatherings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Lead modern worship services on a weekly basis, including musical leadership, setlist development, and service flow.
- Collaborate with clergy and worship planning team to design worship experiences rooted in United Methodist theology and practice.
- Introduce music that reflects theological depth and spiritual formation.
- Lead worship in a way that fosters participation, connection, and spiritual engagement.
Team Development & Culture Building
- Help cultivate a healthy and sustainable modern worship team built on Trinity’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Develop and implement a consistent a method for recruiting, auditioning, training, and mentoring volunteers.
- Create a culture of spiritual growth, accountability, and excellence among musicians and vocalists.
- Lead regular rehearsals that are both musically excellent and spiritually formative.
- Provide ongoing leadership development for team members, empowering them to grow in both skill and faith.
Production & Worship Systems
- Oversee all production elements that support modern worship services, ensuring consistency, excellence, and alignment with the worship experience.
- Work closely with technology staff to execute all aspects of worship gatherings.
- Integrate the use of tracks, click tracks, and loops where appropriate to enhance the worship environment. This could include proficiency with platforms such as Ableton Live, Multi Tracks, Playback, and Loop Community (experience in one or more preferred).
Planning & Administration
- Manage worship planning systems, including scheduling and service organization. Including, but not limited to, CCLI and Planning Center Online.
- Collaborate with church staff to align worship with church-wide initiatives and special services.
- Steward the worship ministry budget with responsibility and vision.
· Participate in Church life, events, and seasonal worship planning (e.g., Advent, Lent, Easter).
· Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION:
- A clear and active Christian faith, with theological alignment to United Methodist theology and practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to leading worship in a way that reflects Wesleyan theology.
- Strong vocal and instrumental leadership ability (guitar or keys preferred).
- Ability to lead teams with clarity, vision, and strong communication.
- Experience cultivating team culture through core values, systems, and intentional leadership.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION:
- Minimum of 2 years of ministry experience, preferably in a modern worship context.
- Experience leading in a United Methodist or similar theological setting.
- Experience with one or more of the following: Ableton Live, Playback, or Loop Community.
- Familiarity with worship planning and presentation systems (e.g., Planning Center, ProPresenter, or similar).
- Working knowledge of live production environments, including audio, lighting, and visual systems.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
