General Statement of Duties: Knowledgeable in the areas of child abuse and neglect and family dynamics, working as a member of a multidisciplinary team organized to provide services to abused and neglected children and their families, case management, coordination of services, interviewing, counseling, public speaking, and crisis intervention.
- Assess child victim and family to gather psychosocial information. Provide crisis intervention services.
- Coordinate services needed evaluate the risk, need for treatment and immediacy of needs; prepare appropriate paperwork and facilitate the process of the team’s involvement in non-familial or child on child cases.
- Assist families in completing the crime victim application.
- Participate in 24 hour on-call rotation, including weekends, to take referrals, assess for immediate service needs, and provide coordination of services, crisis intervention and assistance with medical examinations of children.
- Maintain up to date client records.
- Coordinate MDT staffings and participate in the development of recommendations and coordination of service provision with other agencies.
- Coordinate and schedule forensic medical evaluation with Medical Director/ARNP in cases of non-familial and/or child on child abuse cases
- Maintain and submit statistical data as required per funding source
- Successful completion of a minimum of 8 hours of training per year in child abuse, abandonment and neglect.
CPT Case Coordination Activities:
- Complete assessments and subsequent reports in a timely manner that meet professional standards, are of high quality, and are following DOH contract and program standards and sent to CPS.
- Conduct videotaped interviews of children for the CPS staff, Law Enforcement, and the State Attorney’s Office.
- Coordinate team staffings/case review and participate in the development of recommendations
- Provide depositions and court testimony
- Coordinate client services and referral to community agencies
- Maintain confidentiality of case information.
- Conduct training in the community for professional staff and others, as designated by the Team Coordinator.
- Schedule may be irregular if emergencies arise. Participates in Child Protection Team On-Call Rotation.
- Must be able to complete a level 2 background screening and pre-employment drug test in compliance with Florida Law. Interview children, family members, and significant others as needed to obtain medical and psychosocial information.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Ability to frequently move files weighing up to 25 pounds throughout the office space.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Perform basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to position self to stoop, kneels, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to frequently communicate with employees/customers/clients; and must be able to exchange accurate information by perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information.
- Ability to face a significant amount of emotional stress which can cause related physical stress.
Typical Working Conditions:
Work is primarily conducted at the offices of Manatee Children’s Services and multiple community-based locations. Noise level varies from low to moderate.
Educational/Experience/Licenses:
Required:
- Education: Bachelor's OR Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or another behavioral science.
- Experience: At least two years of post-bachelor experience working with children or families, one year of which must be working with abused and neglected children.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must demonstrate an appreciation of and the ability to work with diverse populations
- Commitment to ethical standards and excellence.
- Level 2 Background and Drug Screening required.
- Maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License and provide proof of Insurance.
- Must be eligible for insurance coverage through agency provider.
- Must notify supervisor immediately if license becomes invalid.

TRAINING
Attend a minimum of 40 hours of training each year. Some training may require overnight travel.
