Program Overview

Peraton provides USSOCOM, its Component Commands, Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), deployed forces, CIO/J6, and end-users with high-quality IT platform and network services over an eight-year period.

About The Role

Peraton requires Database Administrators to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) – 3 EOM.

This position is located at MacDill AFB in Florida.

The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.

This role requires a strong technical foundation and will be responsible for managing complex database environments, ensuring data integrity and availability, optimizing performance, and implementing robust security and compliance measures. This position requires knowledge and experience in major database management systems, such as MariaDB, Oracle, and PostgreSQL, and ability to operate efficiently within RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) environments. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server is also preferred. Database Administrator - Tier 3 role demonstrates the ability to pay keen attention to detail, possess a strong customer service orientation and have the ability to work as part of a team.

Technical Knowledge:

Design and Architecture: Design, install, configure, and maintain secure and scalable database systems (MariaDB, Oracle, PostgreSQL) in on-premises and cloud environments.
Availability: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot high availability/disaster recovery solutions such as clustering, replication, logical/physical standby configurations, and other platform‑specific redundancy mechanisms.
Performance: The administrator should have experience in DBMS performance optimization and be able to identify and resolve performance issues.
Security: The administrator should have a deep understanding of DBMS security and be able to implement and maintain administrative and technical controls.
Collaboration: The administrator should be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other administrators, engineers, and stakeholders across multiple time zones.
Communication: The administrator must have strong communication skills and be able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
Problem Solving: The administrator should have the ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of the organization in the cloud and on-premises environments.
Continuous Learning: The rapidly changing nature of technology requires the administrator to have a continuous learning mindset and be comfortable with adapting to new technologies and best practices in cloud and on-premise environments.
Preferred skills: experience with DBMS supporting technologies such as Red Hat Identify Management, Active Directory\EntraID, DNS , PKI, Kerberos, and automation
In addition to these skills, the administrator should also have experience with IT service management practices and a deep understanding of DBMS architecture and best practices. Familiarity with government and industry security standards, such as STIGs, is also desirable for a senior database administrator working in the Department of Defense.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Min 16 years with HS degree, 14 years with AS/AA degree, 12 years with BS/BA, 10 years with MS/MA, 7 years with a PHD
DoD 8570 IAT II Certification
DoD TS/SCI clearance

Highly Desired:

Must be DoW 8140 compliant under the Work Role Code 421 – Database Administrator - Advanced level or higher by 1 Oct 26.
MariaDB Certified Database Administrator OR
Oracle Certified Professional OR
Azure Database Administrator Associate

Details

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
