Full Job Description

About Us
We are a busy, established law firm in Bradenton, Florida seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, exceptional organizational skills, and experience working in a law firm environment. Knowledge of legal accounting and attorney billing is highly preferred.

Position Summary
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the firm's day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate financial records, maintaining compliance with trust accounting requirements, and supporting the firm's attorneys and staff with billing and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

Manage all bookkeeping functions, including general ledger maintenance;
Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable;
Prepare and process payroll;
Generate and manage attorney billing and client invoices;
Maintain and reconcile multiple IOLTA trust accounts in compliance with applicable rules;
Perform monthly bank and trust account reconciliations;
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements;
Monitor cash flow and assist with financial reporting;
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation; and
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and legal trust accounting requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience;
Law firm accounting experience strongly preferred;
Experience managing IOLTA trust accounts required or highly preferred;
Proficiency with accounting software;
Experience with Tabs3 legal billing software is a plus;
Strong understanding of payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations;
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills;
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
Strong communication and problem-solving skills;
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel;
Familiarity with attorney billing procedures and legal accounting practices; and
Knowledge of trust accounting compliance and ethics requirements.
