Job Title: Aluminum Production Worker
Department: Finishing / Fabrication
Reports To: Welding Supervisor / Production Manager
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 8 am to 4 pm; Approximately
Job Summary:
We are seeking an individual to cut and layout aluminum items for the welding department. Cut and stock items for the finishing department. Roll insect screen in the screen doors, preform quality checks, and prepare components and screen doors for shipping. High level of detail are not just words for this position; THEY ARE A MUST!
Job Duties:
Prepare and Fabricate items for the welding department as follows:
1. Organize work orders for welding fabrication
2. Fabricate items for welder or verify item order for fabrication by welder
3. Fabricate stock items for welding department and finishing departments
4. Cut, Stock, and Prepare component packages for doors ready for delivery
5. Screen, clean, label, and packages doors and components ready for delivery
6. Inspect welded items for quality control prior to powder coating
7. Prepare completed welded items and paperwork for powder coating.
8. Load doors and components for final delivery.
Once products return from powder coating, the Finisher will prepare them for delivery by performing the following:
- Inspect coated parts for scratches, chips, blemishes, missed areas, or handling damage.
- Confirm that finished items match the work order, customer requirements, and quality standards.
- Remove masking, plugs, hooks, or protective materials as required.
- Perform light cleanup or touch-up preparation as directed by the supervisor.
- Package finished products using appropriate materials such as foam, cardboard, shrink wrap, protective covers, pallets, or crates.
- Ensure items are packaged securely to prevent damage during delivery, shipping, or customer pickup.
- Label, count, and stage packaged items for delivery or shipment.
- Assist with loading and unloading finished products when needed.
Quality and Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, face shield, respirator, and protective clothing as required.
- Safely operate grinders, sanders, hand tools, and other shop equipment.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged tools, equipment issues, or quality concerns to a supervisor.
- Handle metal parts safely to avoid injury and prevent product damage.
- Work efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
- Support other areas of the welding, fabrication, finishing, or shipping departments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, metal finishing, or shop environment preferred.
- Experience using cop saws, various hand tools, reading tape measures
- Placing insect screen in screen doors or aluminum enclosures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read work orders, part labels, and basic job documentation.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to work in a hands-on, fast-paced shop environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing metal parts for powder coating or paint.
- Experience packaging finished metal products for shipment or delivery.
- Familiarity with welded steel, aluminum, or fabricated metal products.
- Ability to identify surface defects, coating defects, and finish issues.
- Forklift or pallet jack experience is a plus.
- Basic blueprint or drawing-reading experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
This position requires regular physical activity in a shop environment. The employee must be able to:
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and lift throughout the shift.
- Lift and move up to [ 60 lbs.] without reasonable accommodation.
- Use hand tools and power tools for extended periods.
- Work around metal dust, noise, sparks, sharp edges, and shop equipment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Safely handle parts of varying sizes and weights.
