Dreamland Galaxy – Bradley, IL
Salary: Up to $70,000 per year, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-Time | Salaried Leadership
PositionExpected Schedule: Approximately 50–60 hours per week
Position Overview
Dreamland Galaxy is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Director of Operations to take ownership of the day-to-day operations of our family entertainment center.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys being actively involved in the operation, leading employees, solving problems, maintaining high standards, and ensuring the facility runs smoothly.
This is not a traditional 40-hour-per-week management position. The Director of Operations should expect to work approximately 50–60 hours per week and must have flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods as needed.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the operation and understands that managing a busy entertainment facility requires leadership presence, flexibility, accountability, and the ability to step in wherever needed.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Operations will oversee the overall daily operation of Dreamland Galaxy, including:
● Lead, supervise, coach, and hold employees and supervisors accountable.
● Create and manage employee schedules while maintaining appropriate staffing levels and controlling labor costs.
● Oversee opening and closing procedures and ensure operational standards are consistently followed.
● Maintain a strong management presence throughout the facility.
● Oversee front desk, guest services, play areas, attractions, VR, café operations, parties, and other operational departments.
● Ensure employees remain productive and complete assigned responsibilities throughout their shifts.
● Address employee performance, attendance, conduct, and disciplinary issues when necessary.
● Recruit, interview, onboard, and train employees as staffing needs arise.
● Handle escalated guest concerns professionally and work toward appropriate resolutions.
● Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, presentation, and customer service.
● Conduct regular facility walkthroughs and identify operational, maintenance, cleanliness, and safety concerns.
● Ensure attractions and equipment are properly opened, operated, monitored, and shut down.
● Coordinate maintenance and repairs and follow up until outstanding issues are resolved.
● Monitor inventory and ensure necessary operational supplies are available.
● Oversee cash-handling procedures and ensure management controls are followed.
● Assist with parties, private events, and high-volume operating periods when necessary.
● Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and operating standards.
● Work directly with ownership regarding facility performance, staffing, operational concerns, and improvements.
● Identify problems before they become larger issues and take initiative to develop solutions.
● Step into any area of the operation when additional leadership or support is needed.
Schedule & Availability
This position is expected to average approximately 50–60 hours per week.
This schedule expectation is an important part of the position and candidates should carefully consider their availability before applying.
The Director of Operations must have flexibility to work:
● Weekends
● Evenings
● Holidays when the facility is operating
● Opening and/or closing shifts as necessary
● High-volume and peak business periods
● Additional hours when operational circumstances require senior management presence
The specific schedule may vary from week to week depending on staffing, business volume, private events, maintenance needs, and operational requirements.
Candidates seeking a position strictly limited to a 40-hour workweek should understand that this position is not structured that way.
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have:
● Previous management experience in a high-volume, customer-facing operation.
● Experience managing employees, schedules, training, performance, and accountability.
● Experience overseeing multiple departments or operational areas.
● Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
● Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
● Strong organizational and time-management skills.
● The ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
● A hands-on management style and willingness to assist wherever necessary.
● Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, customer service, and operational standards.
● Experience in family entertainment, amusement, hospitality, restaurants, retail, recreation, attractions, or a similar industry is strongly preferred.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operational leader who takes genuine ownership of the facility.
We are looking for someone who is visible throughout the operation, develops employees, holds the team accountable, follows through on expectations, notices problems before they escalate, and takes initiative without needing constant direction.
This is not a position for someone who wants to manage primarily from an office. The Director of Operations will be expected to understand what is happening throughout the facility and step into different areas whenever leadership or additional support is needed.
The successful candidate will be capable of balancing employee leadership, guest experience, safety, cleanliness, labor management, maintenance, events, and overall operational performance.
Compensation
Up to $70,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s management background, leadership experience, relevant industry experience, and overall qualifications.
