Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Your responsibilities will include scheduling appointments, maintaining accurate medical records, verifying insurance information, and ensuring smooth daily operations within the medical office. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and healthcare procedures. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to quality patient care through efficient administrative support and meticulous documentation management.

Responsibilities

Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression
Schedule, confirm, and modify patient appointments using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
Verify patient insurance coverage and process health insurance claims in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Manage patient check-in and check-out processes accurately while updating electronic health records
Collect payments, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with attention to detail
Review and update medical documentation, ensuring accuracy in CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and other clinical data
Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies
Answer phone calls courteously using proper phone etiquette; direct inquiries appropriately
Assist with medical records management, including filing, retrieval, and secure storage
Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans and documenting relevant information efficiently
Utilize Microsoft Office tools for administrative tasks such as report generation and correspondence

Experience

Prior experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role within a clinic or dental setting
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
Knowledge of health insurance procedures including Medicare billing processes
Familiarity with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10) and medical billing practices
Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and clinical confidentiality policies
Excellent computer skills including typing (10 key), data entry, and document review
Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Candidates should possess strong communication abilities—both verbal and written—and demonstrate a commitment to providing outstanding patient service.
