Dance Instructor – On-Site Studio Position

Overview
Dancing for Joy is seeking a positive, dependable, energetic, and experienced Dance Instructor to join our studio teaching team in Riverview, Florida.
We are looking for an instructor who is passionate about developing dancers technically while creating a classroom environment where students feel welcomed, encouraged, challenged, and excited to grow.
Our instructors provide high-quality dance education while supporting Dancing for Joy's Christ-centered, excellence-driven, and counter-cultural mission. We believe strong dance instruction should be paired with strong character, professionalism, kindness, and leadership.
This is an on-site position at our Dancing for Joy studio and may include opportunities to teach multiple classes, age groups, and dance styles based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach structured, engaging, and age-appropriate dance classes
- Provide quality instruction in one or more styles, including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Creative Movement, and Combo
- Begin classes with prayer and reinforce positive classroom etiquette
- Teach proper technique, terminology, musicality, and performance skills
- Provide corrections in an encouraging, respectful, and constructive manner
- Create an environment where dancers feel safe, supported, and confident
- Prepare lesson plans and follow Dancing for Joy curriculum and class expectations
- Create choreography for studio performances, showcases, and recitals as assigned
- Select clean, age-appropriate music that aligns with Dancing for Joy's values
- Evaluate dancer progress and communicate needs or concerns with studio leadership
- Maintain positive classroom management and appropriate discipline
- Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes, rehearsals, and events
- Communicate professionally with dancers, parents, staff, and leadership
- Participate in required staff meetings, training, rehearsals, and studio events
- Maintain studio spaces and equipment appropriately
- Prioritize dancer health, safety, and well-being at all times
- Follow the Dancing for Joy Staff Handbook, Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of dance teaching experience preferred
- Strong technical training in at least one dance discipline
- Ballet training and knowledge of progressive ballet technique is a plus
- Experience teaching children and/or teens
- Ability to confidently manage a classroom
- Strong choreography and lesson-planning skills
- Positive and uplifting communication style
- Dependable, organized, professional, and punctual
- Ability to receive feedback and work collaboratively with studio leadership
- Comfortable working as part of a team-focused studio environment
- Must be comfortable working within a Christian, faith-centered organization
- Reliable transportation to our Riverview studio
- Must successfully complete required background screening and onboarding requirements

Position Details
Location: Dancing for Joy – Riverview, FL
Position Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Weekday afternoons/evenings and/or Saturdays, depending on availability
Class Levels: Preschool through Advanced, based on instructor experience
Start Date: Based on availability
Class assignments and weekly teaching hours will be determined based on the instructor's experience, strengths, availability, and current studio needs.
