Job Title: Assistant Director of Residential Services
Reports To: Program Director/Executive Director
Summary:
The Assistant Director of Residential Services is responsible for assisting the Director of Residential Services in supervising and maintaining aspects of the residential program. This includes daily operations of scheduling to ensure proper staff coverage 24 hours each day at all residential homes. This position is also responsible for quality assurance, monthly summaries, managing direct support professionals, and other duties as assigned. Position will assist with the training and supervision of the department’s direct support professionals. Assistant Director will assist with the implementation of plans for all persons served in the program receiving residential services. Duties include team building, communication, and leadership.
This position requires evening, overnight, and weekend availability.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Hire, train, and assist with the continual training of staff.
- May be asked to assist with or conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Identify areas of concern and assist with staff development and success.
- Mentor and monitor program staff to ensure that person-centered services and supports are being provided with the highest level of quality.
- Oversee staff scheduling, ensuring proper staff coverage 24 hours a day.
- Complete programmatic documentation per SCDDB and DMH guidelines.
- Daily and monthly review of documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicates with staff on behalf of the Director.
- Provide leadership and support to residential staff, promoting a positive, respectful, and team-oriented environment.
- Monitor and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of persons served in residential program.
- Coordinate closely with SCDDB Registered Nurse to ensure all medical and health-related needs of individuals are met, including medication management and documentation.
- Ensure all required paperwork, including medication administration records and health-related documentation, is completed accurately and promptly.
- Schedule, train, and supervisor residential staff.
- Conduct regular site visits and audits to monitor program quality and compliance.
- Act as a proxy for the Director as needed in his/her absence.
- Collaborates with the Director to sustain, promote, and grow departmental programs and services.
- Maintain prompt and professional communication with house leads, team members, guardians, family members, and support coordination.
- Oversee and maintain persons served schedules for medical appointments and ensure proper follow-through by staff.
- Review safety checks and communicate any concerns regarding SCDDB program sites.
- Complete EMT’s as needed.
- Complete monthly reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Three to five years of related experience required.
- Prior supervisory experience in a residential setting is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of the philosophy, mission, leadership needs, and planning requirements of the organization preferred.
- High School diploma or GED and
- Completion of 60 college credit hours required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class E driver’s License.
- Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration and Positive Behavioral Support Training.

Working Conditions:
The Assistant Director of Residential Services will work in a changing environment that adjusts to the needs of the individuals the program serves. The environment may be fast-paced with interruptions, distractions, and deadlines. The Assistant Director of Residential Services needs to be flexible and be able to adjust to the changing needs of persons served and direct support professionals. Depending on the needs of the individuals, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting, or moving items up to 50 lbs., walking or standing for extended periods of time or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions.
