Engine Services – Automotive Machine Shop
We are looking for a motivated, mechanically inclined person to join our automotive machine shop as an Apprentice. This is an entry-level position for someone who wants to learn the automotive machining and engine-building trade and develop real hands-on skills.
You will work alongside experienced machinists and technicians while learning how to properly inspect, clean, machine, and prepare engine components.
What You'll Learn
- Engine and cylinder head disassembly and inspection
- Cleaning and preparation of engine components
- Measuring and inspecting engine parts
- Identifying wear, damage, and machining requirements
- Basic machine shop procedures and equipment operation
- Cylinder head and engine block machining processes
- Honing, boring, surfacing, and other machining operations
- Parts organization and job tracking
- Following work instructions, checklists, and quality-control procedures
- Proper use of precision measuring tools
- Shop safety and proper equipment operation
- Eventually performing machining and engine-service tasks independently
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced machinists with daily shop operations
- Clean, organize, and prepare engine components for inspection and machining
- Disassemble and reassemble engine components as instructed
- Perform basic inspections and measurements
- Operate shop equipment after proper training
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow job tickets, checklists, and work instructions
- Properly document work performed and findings
- Handle customer parts carefully and keep jobs organized
- Learn and follow all shop safety procedures
- Take pride in producing clean, accurate, professional work

Automotive experience, mechanical experience, technical school, or previous shop experience is a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements
This position involves standing and working on your feet for extended periods, lifting and moving engine components and parts, bending, reaching, and working around shop equipment.
