Job Purpose
The Inventory Specialist & Clinical Assistant supports the clinical and operational functions of the prosthetics and orthotics practice. This role bridges patient care and inventory control—ensuring that patients’ prescribed devices are accurately documented in the electronic medical record (EMR), products are received and distributed efficiently, and clinical staff are supported with patient preparation and equipment readiness.
The position combines hands-on clinical assistance with meticulous inventory management to promote seamless patient experiences and optimal clinical workflow.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clinical Support
- Assist prosthetists and orthotists with patient evaluations, fittings, and follow-up appointments.
- Prepare rooms, devices, and materials prior to patient visits.
- Support patient education on device use, care, and maintenance.
- Ensure that each patient’s prescribed device and related components are accurately documented and confirmed in the EMR.
- Communicate patient concerns, feedback, or follow-up needs to the clinical team promptly.
- Inventory Management
- Receive, inspect, and log all incoming products, materials, and components.
- Match shipments to purchase orders and verify accuracy of packing slips.
- Maintain organized inventory storage and labeling systems across all clinic locations.
- Process and document product returns, exchanges, and repairs.
- Track loaner devices and demo units to ensure accountability and timely return.
- Assist in maintaining par levels and restocking clinical rooms with commonly used items.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely ordering and delivery of clinical supplies.
- Operational Support
- Coordinate with the clinical and administrative teams to ensure patient devices are available and prepared prior to appointments.
- Maintain accurate, real-time documentation of all inventory and patient-device activities.
- Participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives related to clinical operations and inventory efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies, compliance standards, and safety procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in healthcare, business operations, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical, prosthetic, or orthotic setting preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and EMR systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Problem-solving ability with a proactive and professional approach.
- Manual dexterity and comfort handling medical devices and components.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in both clinical and workshop environments. May require lifting, unpacking, and organizing boxes or equipment (up to 50 lbs). Exposure to materials, adhesives, and tools used in device fabrication or repair. Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate. Occasional travel between clinic sites may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods.
- Regularly required to lift and move materials or boxes up to 50 lbs.
- Visual acuity for detailed work and accurate documentation.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and reach to access inventory or assist with patient care.

Pay: $13.00 - $17.00 per hour
