Job Description

Harsha Behavioral Center is seeking a Director of Quality Nurse to join our team in Terre Haute, IN. This position requires a highly self-motivated individual with a strong combination of skills including: organizational awareness, communications, interpersonal, influencing and technical. Provides oversight and direction for house-wide quality improvement initiatives. Coordinates the hospital’s Performance Improvement Plan and provides System support/consultation for Performance Improvement (PI) program development. Supports regulatory compliance activities on an on-going basis.

Qualifications

Previous quality experience or 2+ years of healthcare experience required.
Excellent computer skills required. Knowledge of microsoft suite (powerpoint and excel)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify potential quality issues
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to quickly identify and resolve problems
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks throughout the day
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining productivity throughout the day

Duties include but not limited to:

Assumes the responsibilities of the Quality Department at HBC. Effectively relates to and utilizes a diverse workforce for managing and improving work systems and processes.

On call required 1 week a month. (which includes a weekend)

Utilizes a combination of, requirements and expectations from internal and external customers, lessons learned, comparative and benchmark information from state and other organizations to ensure a consistent and results-oriented focus on appropriate PI initiatives.

Extensive knowledge and use of quality tools, measurement techniques and systems. Coordinates and provides PI and specialized training, and quality tool education in support of enhancing a team-based work system that permeates across all work functions.

Ensures that the appropriate committee or organization level for initiating process improvement addresses performance issues identified in the balanced scorecard. Provides leadership, guidance and direction for resulting PI initiatives.

Demonstrates excellent oral and written skills. Is proficient in the use of Microsoft products (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Ability to problem solve, make quality decisions, establish effective peer relationships and demonstrate strategic agility by taking a global view and localizing areas to address for improvement.

Effective interpersonal skills especially in the areas of negotiation, coaching, feedback facilitation and consulting.

Examines existing processes and problems and continuously looks for ways to improve.

Uses resources (people, supplies, environmental) in a responsible cost-effective manner.

Uses own time and that of others effectively.

Is fiscally responsible and suggests cost-saving measures.

Adjusts to a rapidly changing industry by managing progress made to date and seamlessly modifying approaches and methods when appropriate to meet new challenges and opportunities.

Develops, manage and ensures appropriate, systematic methods, quality tools and PI techniques and used for meeting quality and hospital performance goals.

Promotes a learning and result-focused organization by developing and administering appropriate training and education across the hospital.

Provides PI leadership and consultative services for hospital and medical staff in effectively achieving regulatory accreditation and organizational compliance for PI activities.

Organizes, compiles, and reports PI data for both the hospital and medical staff departments to identify trends, establish priorities, and recommend improvement activities.

Performs comprehensive, concurrent and retrospective, reviews in a timely manner, utilizing criteria developed and approved by the medical staff and the hospital.

Keeps abreast of current JCAHO standards and other accreditation standards, as well as the latest quality techniques in health care.

Coordinates with the infection control nurse an active effective and written hospital-wide infection control program.
