Director of Project Management

Location: Irvine, CA
Job Type: Full-Time

Lead the PMO. Drive Operational Excellence. Deliver Customer Success.

We are seeking an experienced PMO Lead to build, lead, and continuously improve our Project Management Office (PMO) for a growing technology solutions provider. This is a leadership role responsible for driving project governance, delivery excellence, financial performance, resource optimization, and customer satisfaction across a diverse portfolio of enterprise technology projects.

You'll work closely with Professional Services, Sales, Engineering, Customer Success, and Managed Services to ensure customer engagements are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

What You'll DoPMO Leadership

Develop and execute the PMO strategy aligned with company objectives.
Establish and improve project governance, methodologies, and best practices.
Standardize project delivery processes across multiple technology practices.
Lead PMO operational reviews and executive reporting.
Foster a culture of accountability, execution, and continuous improvement.

Project Delivery Oversight

Provide leadership across customer-facing projects, including:

Infrastructure deployments
Data center modernization
Cloud migrations
Networking implementations
Cybersecurity projects
Managed Services onboarding
Professional Services engagements
Merger & acquisition integrations
Multi-site technology rollouts

You'll oversee:

Project portfolio management
Risk and issue management
Scope and schedule governance
Executive communications
Customer satisfaction

Financial & Operational Management

Forecast services revenue and project financials.
Improve project profitability and gross margin.
Monitor resource utilization and labor planning.
Support revenue recognition and change order management.
Partner with Finance to improve forecasting accuracy.

Resource Management

Lead enterprise resource planning.
Balance workloads and optimize resource allocation.
Coordinate with Practice Managers to align technical resources with project needs.
Manage contractor utilization and capacity planning.

Customer Engagement

Serve as an executive-level customer partner.
Lead status meetings and executive business reviews.
Resolve escalations and mitigate project risks.
Improve customer satisfaction through proactive communication.

Continuous Improvement

Develop PMO dashboards and KPI reporting.
Standardize project documentation and templates.
Improve delivery methodologies and workflow automation.
Drive project quality and PMO maturity initiatives.

Team Leadership

Mentor and develop Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
Conduct coaching, performance reviews, and career development planning.
Support professional certifications such as PMP, Agile, and ITIL.
Recruit, onboard, and build a high-performing PMO team.

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
10+ years of project management experience
5+ years leading a PMO or project management organization
Experience working for a technology VAR, MSP, systems integrator, consulting firm, or technology services organization
Proven success managing complex, multi-million-dollar customer programs
Experience leading cross-functional technical delivery teams

Preferred Certifications

PMP Certification
Agile Certification
ITIL Foundation

Technical Knowledge

Strong understanding of:
