Full Job Description

Overview

Head Injury Association is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and results-oriented Residential Director to oversee the daily operations of 5–6 residential homes serving individuals with developmental and/or acquired brain injuries. The Residential Director will provide leadership, guidance, and operational oversight to Residential Program Managers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

This position plays a key leadership role within the Residential Department and is responsible for supporting Program Managers through ongoing coaching, training, mentorship, and performance management. The Residential Director will work closely with residential teams toward regulatory compliance, staff development, and positive outcomes for the individuals we support.

The majority of work will be performed on-site at residential programs located throughout Suffolk and Nassau Counties, requiring regular travel between locations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Hires, trains, supervises, assigns duties, schedules work hours and evaluates job performance & disciplines all as assigned in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
Coordinates monthly staff meetings to enhance professional staff development and to deal with staff issues.
Demonstrates competency in human development stages and has a clear understanding in the range of treatment required for survivors of I/DD.
Responsible for budgeting and fiscal management of the program
Assisting with payroll, oversight of billing and ensuring client notes are entered completely and in a timely manner.
Assists Program Managers in ensuring the direct care staff are implementing goal plans and behavioral plans in appropriate time frames
Maintains program statistics and prepares reports as needed
Serves as liaison between programs and with other agencies.
Represents program at relevant community and professional organizations.
Provides an atmosphere of quality and professional growth throughout the department.
Oversees the development and opening of new programs ensuring compliance with OPWDD regulations and guidelines.
Actively participating in staff and clinical team meetings
Providing 24/7 on call support for Residential Teams as needed
Other Duties as assigned for programmatic need.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience within OPWDD and/or residential service settings.
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience managing teams and program operations.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Human Services, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of OPWDD regulations, Medicaid requirements, incident management, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Valid New York State Driver's License with the ability to travel between program locations as needed.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
