Construction Coordinator – Roadway & Bridge
Brevard County is hiring a Construction Coordinator for the Public Works Department – Roadway and Bridge Division in Viera.
Position Overview
This role manages large and complex County transportation construction projects from planning through completion. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating roadway, bridge, drainage, and sidewalk construction projects
- Managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, bids, and documentation
- Ensuring compliance with specifications, permits, codes, and regulations
- Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates
- Supervising project activities and monitoring contractor performance
- Supporting emergency operations during hurricanes or disaster events when required
Salary & Schedule
- Pay: $2,730.61 – $3,003.67 biweekly ($34.13 - $37.54 hr)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- May require evenings, weekends, and holiday work
- Full-time permanent position
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
- Six years of professional transportation infrastructure construction experience
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Experience with:
- Construction plan interpretation
- Quantity take-offs
- Detailed estimates
- Permitting
- Contracts and bids
- Project controls and performance measures
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred credentials include:
- Registered Architect
- Professional Engineer
- Building Contractor or General Contractor certification
- Experience with project/work management software
- Microsoft Excel proficiency
Additional Requirements
- Valid Florida Driver’s License required prior to employment
- Must maintain license throughout employment
- Emergency response duties may be required during disasters or hurricanes
Work Environment
This position combines office and field work, including:
- Outdoor exposure to heat, humidity, dust, noise, and traffic
- Site inspections and project monitoring
- Frequent interaction with contractors, crews, and County personnel

$2,730.61 to $3,003.67 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs skilled professional work involving the coordination and management of all aspects of large, complex County construction projects, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within an established budget, while adhering to all applicable standards and specifications, including compliance with codes and regulations.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Building Construction, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field six (6) years of professional experience in the construction of transportation infrastructure, including paved roads, drainage systems, bridges, and sidewalks including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity. Must have experience in reading and interpreting construction design plans, generating quantity take-offs, preparing detailed estimates, acquiring the necessary project permits, and establishing project controls including documents, contracts, bids, and performance measures. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Certification as a Registered Architect, Professional Engineer, Building Contractor or General Contractor is preferred. Experience in the use of a project management/work management software, and Microsoft Excel is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess or obtain, prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's License and maintain said license during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
