Full Job Description

Well-established Steak & Seafood restaurant seeking an experienced and qualified Head Chef to manage the kitchen’s daily activities with outstanding team commitment. You will be the first in command in the kitchen working closely with the owners, follow recipe's, create and inspect dishes before they arrive at the customers table, ensuring consistency with high quality and contentment. Conduct daily staff meetings along with specialty dish overviews.

Responsibilities

Control and direct the food preparation process and any other related activities
Construct features with new or existing culinary creations, ensuring the variety and quality of the servings
Daily cutting of fish, meat, and produce
Inventory and daily logs
Approve and “polish” dishes before they reach the customer
Plan orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages with the owners
Arrange for repairs when necessary with the owners.
Remedy any problems or defects
Daily features.
Feature menu item food costs.
Food costs.
Bi-monthly inventory
Manage and train current and new kitchen staff
Oversee the work of subordinates
Estimate the staff’s workload
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between all co-workers.

Must-haves:

Proven experience as head chef (reference required and verified)
Exceptional proven ability of kitchen management in prior jobs
Ability to divide responsibilities and monitoring progress
Outstanding communication and leadership skills
Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen management

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Experience:

Culinary experience: 5 years (Required)
Cooking: 5 years (Preferred)

Work Location: In person
