- Potential long-term advancement into:
- Senior GIS specialist
- Survey analyst
- Survey project coordinator
- Licensed surveyor support roles
- Geomatics-related positions
For someone interested in mapping, GIS, land records, or survey technology, this provides a strong municipal/public-sector foundation.
Work Environment
Unlike field-heavy survey crews, this role is primarily office-based:
- Moderate sitting and computer work
- Occasional field verification
- Less physical exposure than roadway inspection roles
- Some environmental exposure when assisting field staff
The work environment suggests a hybrid technical-office role with occasional operational support.
Certifications and Training
The county invests in development through:
- FDOT MOT/TTC certification
- Florida Survey & Mapping Society law coursework
- County leadership training
- New employee development courses
That indicates they view this as a long-term professional development position rather than temporary clerical drafting work.
