Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will oversee the accurate and timely completion of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, which are essential for quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and reimbursement processes. Your expertise will ensure that residents receive personalized care plans aligned with federal and state regulations, fostering a safe and supportive environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of healthcare documentation, medical terminology, and nursing practices, along with excellent organizational skills to manage complex data efficiently. Responsibilities

Coordinate and facilitate the completion of MDS assessments in accordance with federal, state, and facility policies.
Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to gather accurate clinical information for assessments.
Ensure all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations and maintains the confidentiality of patient information.
Review medical records and electronic health records (EHR) to verify completeness and accuracy of assessment data.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health regulation policies related to long-term care and disease management.
Monitor assessment schedules to ensure timely submission of MDS reports for reimbursement and quality reporting purposes.
Provide training and support to staff on MDS processes, medical documentation standards, and electronic health record management.

Skills

Proficiency in medical software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and electronic health records management.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and chronic disease management.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, health regulation policies, and confidentiality standards.
Experience with triage procedures, acute care documentation, and emergency care protocols such as CPR and first aid.
Ability to interpret medical records accurately and handle sensitive information discreetly.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for managing complex data sets efficiently.
Leadership experience in nursing or healthcare settings is a plus, demonstrating ability to guide interdisciplinary teams effectively.
