We can teach you to shoot a listing. We can’t teach you to be the kind of person an agent wants to see pull into their driveway.
That’s the whole hiring philosophy. If your portfolio is good but you’re flaky, we’re not interested. If your portfolio is decent and you’re coachable, dependable, and easy to be around — we’ll get you the rest of the way.
Who we are
Florida Home Photo is a real estate media company out of Orlando. We shoot around 450 properties a month — photography, video, drone, Matterport, and short-form social content — and we do it as media partners to our agents, not as a vendor they call when they need pictures.
We’re expanding into Tampa, Ocala, and the Space Coast. That means the photographers we bring on now aren’t filling a slot on a full schedule — they’re building the schedule. Early people in a new market get scheduling priority as volume grows.
What you’ll actually do
- Shoot residential listings: interior/exterior photos, drone, vertical social video, walkthrough video, Matterport or Zillow 3D tours, floor plans
- Show up on time, presentable, and ready to make the agent’s day easier
- Handle the property like it’s your own — shoes off, lights on, blinds straight, nothing moved that you don’t move back
- Upload everything to our Dropbox, with editing notes, and confirm in Slack by 9pm the same day
You do not edit. Our in-house team handles all post-production. Your job is to capture it clean and get it to us.
What we’re looking for (in order)
1. Coachable, no ego. You take notes. You take feedback on a shoot without getting defensive. You’d rather be corrected today than keep doing it wrong for six months.
2. Reliable and self-managing. Nobody is going to text you at 7am to make sure you’re awake. You control your own calendar — if you block it, you’re off; if you don’t and a client books you, that shoot is yours. We need people who treat that freedom like a responsibility.
3. Warm and personable. You’ll be face-to-face with agents, sellers, tenants, and the occasional very stressed homeowner. You’re the FHP brand in that room. Friendly, calm, unbothered — even when the house isn’t ready and the dog is barking.
4. Hungry. You want more shoots, more skills, more income. You ask what else you can get trained on. That energy gets rewarded here.
Technical baseline
- A working understanding of a camera — exposure, composition, and the ability to shoot a well-lit interior
- Comfortable being taught our specific shot lists, angles, and workflow (we train you on our system regardless of your experience level)
- Reliable vehicle and a smartphone
Real estate experience is helpful but not required. Some of our best photographers came from portraits, weddings, events, or video and learned listings with us.
Equipment — let’s be clear about this up front
As a contractor, you run your own kit. We’re not vague about what that means, because murky gear expectations waste everybody’s time.
Here’s the baseline we shoot on:
Camera (photo): Entry-level full frame or better — Canon RP, Canon R6, Sony A7 III, A7 IV, or A7S III
Camera (video)Sony only: — A7 III or A7S III
Drone: DJI Mini 3 class or lighter
360 capture: Insta360 X2 or comparable
Stabilizer: DJI gimbal
Why Sony for video: our editors color-match every deliverable across a whole listing. Mixing color science between shooters creates work in post that shouldn’t exist. Photo is flexible; video is not.

We’d rather find the right person and solve the gear than hire the wrong person who already owns a camera bag. If you clear our interview and test shoot and you’re short a piece or two, we’ll work with you on getting there — that can mean access to company-owned equipment under our equipment agreement, or helping you plan the purchase around your shoot volume so the gear pays for itself.
What we won’t do is put you on listings with equipment that can’t deliver what we promised the client. So come with a real conversation about what you have and what you don’t, and we’ll figure out the path.
Drone note: if you’re flying for us, FAA Part 107 certification is required for commercial work regardless of how small the drone is. If you don’t have it yet, tell us — it’s a straightforward test and we’ll point you at how to get it. You’re responsible for your own certification and any FAA penalties.
Pay & incentives
- Photo packages, 3D tours, and floor plans: 35% of the package price
- Video: flat rate per video — $60 standard, $85 premium, $100 signature, $115 luxury
- Real twilight session: $100
- Weekly fuel stipend: $100 when you complete 10+ shoots in a pay week
- Google review bonus: Get paid every time a client leaves a review naming you
- Travel: you set a 50-mile service radius from your home base; take a shoot outside of 40 miles and you receive a travel fee
- Cancellations: if you show up and the client cancels or the property isn’t ready, you’re paid $75
- Paid weekly by direct deposit (Friday–Thursday pay week, deposited within 3–4 business days)
The honest fine print
- Independent contractor (1099), not an employee
- You set your own availability and must complete all projects scheduled within the availability you provided
- If a shoot needs to be redone because of something on your end, you go back and reshoot it at no additional pay. Ownership matters to us
- FHP owns the finished media
- Corrections are due by the client’s deadline
