Great Oportunity for an Entreprenurial Manager

We’re opening a new American bar concept on Ocean Drive and looking for an exceptional General Manager to help us launch it and make it a success.

We already have a strong vision for what we’re building. And we’re looking for someone with the experience, judgment and entrepreneurial mindset to help us execute that vision—and refine it based on what the Ocean Drive crowds tell us.

You’ll work directly with ownership and have meaningful input into the operation, so if you are a hard worker, care about the details and spent years thinking, “If this were my place, here’s what I’d do,” this may be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

The Opportunity

Ocean Drive has thousands of potential customers walking past our front door every day. Your job is figuring out how to convince more than our fair share to stop, come inside and stay awhile.

You’ll build and lead the team, own the day-to-day operation, manage the numbers, and help shape the entertainment, menus and promotions as we continue refining the concept.

Who We Are

We’re a private family office that owns the building. This is our restaurant, and we have a plan we’re ready to execute. What we’re looking for is someone who can run it well and help us keep making it better. Great ideas can come from the staff and the guests – we want to listen to the street.

The Concept

We’ll discuss the concept in more detail during the interview, but at a high level we’re creating an approachable, unpretentious American bar and restaurant.

During the day, we’ll be a comfortable stop for tourists, families, couples, and locals looking for good food and drinks.

And then, at night, the room comes alive. Live music. Interesting promotions and entertainment. High energy. Cold beer. Strong pours. Great late-night food. A place where everyone inside looks like they’re having a fun time.

What You’ll Own

People - Hire, train and lead the entire front and back of house team. Build a culture that people want to work in and guests want to return to.

Operations - Vendor relationships, ordering, opening and closing procedures, compliance. Hopefully build systems that can consistently handle high volume.

Financial Performance – You and your staff will be in charge of scheduling and ordering and you’ll have real P&L responsibility and skin in the game because your bonus will be based on the restaurant’s success.

Programming & Driving Business - This is one of the most important parts of the job. You’ll have a dedicated programming budget.

Live music (w/cover bands, tribute bands etc), Karaoke, Dance contests, Trivia, Sports watch parties, Theme nights, Holiday promotions, Local partnerships. Or something entirely new. We expect you to keep experimenting and trying things until we have some signature events.

Required

Experience running or helping run a successful bar or restaurant as an AGM, Bar Manager, Restaurant Manager, or GM.
Comfortable managing labor, purchasing, scheduling, inventory, food costs, beverage costs, and financial performance.
Experience hiring, training, coaching, and developing hourly employees.
You enjoy creating energy. Empty rooms bother you. You’re always thinking about what would bring people inside, keep them longer, and make them want to come back.
Nights, weekends, and holidays don’t scare you. That’s the business.

Strong Pluses

High-volume tourist destination experience.
Experience on Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road, Key West, Las Vegas, Nashville, Bourbon Street, major resorts, or similar environments.
Bilingual English/Spanish.
Relationships with South Florida musicians, DJs, entertainers, promoters, or vendors.
Florida food safety and alcohol certifications (or willingness to obtain before opening).

Compensation

$100,000–$125,000 base salary, depending on experience.
Meaningful performance bonuses/profit sharing.

We do not currently offer health insurance or other benefits.
