Full Job Description

Bridgeport United Methodist Church is seeking a dependable, organized, and proactive Facilities Coordinator to oversee the care and operation of the church’s two ministry campuses and three parsonages.

This full-time position combines staff supervision, preventive maintenance, contractor and project coordination, and appropriate hands-on facilities work. The Facilities Coordinator will help ensure that all church properties are safe, clean, functional, welcoming, and prepared to support worship, ministry, and community activities.

Primary Responsibilities

Supervise and direct custodial and facilities employees, including scheduling, assigning work, inspecting completed work, and addressing performance concerns.
Oversee the maintenance and physical condition of two church campuses and three church-owned parsonages.
Develop and administer preventive-maintenance schedules for buildings, grounds, equipment, and major building systems.
Assess maintenance and repair needs, complete appropriate routine work, and coordinate qualified contractors for specialized repairs and projects.
Ensure that church facilities are clean, safe, secure, and properly prepared for worship services, meetings, funerals, ministry programs, and special events.
Coordinate room setups, seasonal work, grounds care, snow and ice response, supply inventories, and other routine facility operations.
Maintain organized records of repairs, inspections, warranties, equipment, vendors, and ongoing facility needs.
Assist the Senior Pastor and Board of Trustees with project planning, budgeting, contractor proposals, and long-range property priorities.
Communicate clearly with church staff, ministry leaders, contractors, parsonage residents, and church leadership.
Provide occasional Sunday, evening, and emergency facility coverage, with reasonable adjustments to the regular weekday schedule.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

Experience in facilities management, property maintenance, construction, skilled trades, custodial supervision, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to supervise employees, establish priorities, and ensure that work is completed effectively.
Practical knowledge of building maintenance and the judgment to recognize when a licensed or specialized contractor is needed.
Strong organizational, communication, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
The ability to manage multiple needs and projects with limited day-to-day direction.
Basic proficiency with email, calendars, electronic documents, and recordkeeping.
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation between church properties.
The physical ability to inspect properties, use stairs and ladders safely, perform appropriate maintenance work, and lift or move supplies and equipment.

Experience coordinating contractors, managing budgets, or working in a church, nonprofit, school, or other public-use facility is preferred.

Position Details

Status: Full-time, normally 40 hours per week
Schedule: Primarily weekday daytime hours, with occasional Sunday, evening, and emergency responsibilities
Compensation: Compensation will be established depending on experience, qualifications, and the final balance of Managerial and hands-on responsibilities

Reports to: Senior Pastor
