Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Exercise Physiologist to join a growing metabolic and performance testing program on a per diem or part-time basis. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a developing grassroots program that is evolving in real time, with the ability to contribute meaningfully to both the client experience and the growth of the service itself.

The role involves conducting elective fitness and metabolic assessments for a wide range of individuals, from sedentary adults beginning their wellness journey to recreational and competitive athletes seeking deeper physiological insight into performance and training.

This position is ideal for someone who is intellectually curious, comfortable in a dynamic environment, and excited by the opportunity to help shape a developing program at the intersection of exercise physiology, wellness, and performance.

Important Position Information

This role involves elective fitness and performance testing and is not intended to diagnose medical conditions or provide medical treatment
Testing is performed in a wellness and performance setting focused on exercise physiology, fitness assessment, and individualized exercise guidance
Candidates should be comfortable working with individuals of varying fitness levels and exercise experience

Key Responsibilities

Conduct elective fitness and metabolic assessments using treadmills and cycle ergometers
Administer graded exercise testing protocols for VO₂max, lactate threshold, metabolic efficiency, and related performance measures
Monitor heart rate, perceived exertion, respiratory responses, and participant safety throughout testing
Conduct lactate testing
Prepare and calibrate metabolic testing equipment and associated technology
Collect, document, and organize physiological testing data accurately
Educate clients on testing procedures and provide a professional and supportive experience
Assist with basic interpretation and summary of exercise testing results under established clinic protocols
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of testing equipment and laboratory spaces
Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff including clinical specialists, coaches, and other medical staff
Adhere to all safety procedures, professional standards, and clinic policies

Skills

Strong knowledge of cardiology principles, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to patient care.
Proficiency in patient assessment techniques including vital signs monitoring and body mechanics analysis.
Experience with EKG interpretation and patient monitoring during exercise sessions.
Ability to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to individual health needs within outpatient settings.
Excellent communication skills for effective health coaching and patient education.
Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic for documentation purposes.
Personal training experience is a plus, along with a passion for promoting health and wellness through evidence-based practices.
