Analyst is responsible for supporting management with all inventory-related analyses and initiatives. The role is data-intensive and requires a high degree of comfort, interest, and willingness to work with large data sets and data analysis tools. Curiosity and an inclination for action are required to be successful. The Analyst will be trained to back up certain roles in the accounting/finance and purchasing teams that are related to inventory.
Organizational Relationships and Authority
Reports directly to the Controller; no direct reports. Collaborates with Finance, Purchasing, Operations, Continuous Improvement, and Customer Resource teams.
Inventory without Demand Analysis
- Become expert in GSM systems and data for purchasing and sales order processing functions.
- Identify customer signals that initiated our internal purchasing processes and analyze changes to those signals that create inventory without customer demand.
- Coordinate with accounting/finance and sales to develop action plans for invoicing and/or disposal of inventory without demand.
Inventory Variances and Aging
- Analyze physical inventory variances and provide support for developing policy and controls.
- Identify inventory items that are aging into the obsolete inventory reserve categories and work cross-functionally on action plans for the inventory.
- Support cycle counts and annual physical inventory count.
Accounting and Purchasing Back up
- Learn the processes and serve as a backup for the following roles:
o Accounts payable (MRO and Inventory)
o MRO Buyer
o Cost Accountant
Ad Hoq Analysis and Projects
- Provide analytical support for inventory-related projects such as:
o Inventory minimums and maximums
o Supplier performance dashboards
o Total landed cost
- Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP functions).
- Abilities with, or desire to learn, AI tools, SQL, and Power BI.
- Detail-oriented and capable of converting data into business actions.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving ability with high attention to detail.
- Effective communication and presentation skills across all levels of the organization.
- Strong time management and personal accountability.
- Clear, professional communication across departments and teams.
- Consistent professionalism, reliability, and collaborative attitude.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, purchasing, data analytics, or a related field required. Manufacturing experience is helpful but not required.
Onsite in an office setting with regular interaction on the manufacturing floor.
