Part-Time | On-Site | Flexible Daytime Hours
Pay: $23.00 - $35.00 per hour when base pay and performance-based earnings are combined
Ascent Insurance Solutions is a growing independent commercial insurance brokerage in Aurora, Colorado. We work with established businesses, contractors, service providers, and public entities, with a strong focus on workers’ compensation and commercial insurance.
We are looking for a Production Specialist – Commercial Insurance Business Development to help create, develop, and move qualified new business opportunities through our sales pipeline.
This is a part-time, on-site position to start, with flexible daytime hours and the opportunity to grow based on demonstrated success in the role and future agency need.
What This Role Is
This is a business development and production support role.
The Production Specialist is responsible for connecting with prospective clients, identifying potential opportunities, scheduling qualified appointments, following up consistently, gathering needed information, and accurately maintaining prospect and pipeline records.
We provide targeted prospect data, training, scripts and messaging examples, follow-up templates, systems, and support. We need someone who is comfortable picking up the phone, having real conversations with business owners and decision-makers, following an established process, using business technology confidently, and staying organized enough to keep opportunities moving.
A property and casualty insurance license is ideal, but not required. Licensed candidates with relevant experience and the ability to take on additional responsibilities may qualify for a higher base rate or future commission opportunities. Licensing alone does not create an automatic promotion, compensation change, commission eligibility, or producer path.
Growth opportunities are based on demonstrated performance, coachability, documentation quality, sales aptitude, agency need, and written agreement.
What You’ll Do
Your primary responsibility will be helping generate and advance qualified commercial insurance opportunities. We have the data, insight, and messaging needed to help start the conversation and capture attention.
This includes:
- Making outbound calls to businesses and organizations using agency-provided prospect data and targeted campaigns
- Speaking with business owners, managers, and other decision-makers about potential insurance review and quoting opportunities
- Identifying qualified prospects and scheduling appointments for agency leadership and licensed sales team members
- Sending timely follow-up emails using agency-provided templates, modified appropriately for the conversation and situation
- Gathering updated contact information and basic prospect information
- Requesting and following up on documents needed for insurance review or quoting opportunities
- Following up on missed appointments, open opportunities, and requested information
- Accurately documenting calls, emails, updated contact information, appointments, requested information, and next steps in agency systems
- Entering and maintaining opportunities in the sales pipeline
- Keeping prospect records current when new or corrected information is obtained
- Learning enough about commercial insurance and workers’ compensation to ask better questions and recognize where Ascent may be able to help.
Qualified licensed team members may also have future opportunities to assist with additional parts of the sales process and earn commission on business they help develop and close. Any commission eligibility must be confirmed separately in writing.
What Success Looks Like
This is a ramped position. We do not expect someone to know commercial insurance on day one, but we do expect steady progress through training, consistent effort, coachability, and the ability to apply what is being taught. We provide the technology, tools, data, training, messaging, support, and structure.
Once trained and fully ramped, strong performance in this role generally means:
- Consistently making outbound calls and follow-up contacts
- Making meaningful contact attempts, not just completing call volume
- Leaving professional voicemails when appropriate
- Sending timely follow-up emails after calls, voicemails, conversations, and missed appointments
- Doing basic research before and during outreach when needed to understand who you are contacting
- Booking qualified appointments
- Gathering requested information in advance whenever possible
- Maintaining accurate and current prospect and pipeline records
- Documenting call outcomes, voicemails, emails, contact updates, follow-up tasks, and next steps
- Following up consistently until an opportunity is closed, moved forward, or no longer viable
- Meeting activity, documentation, appointment, and follow-up goals without constant reminders or supervision
Activity volume matters, but it is not the only measure of success.
We care about quality contact attempts, actual conversations, professional follow-up, accurate documentation, appointments that hold, information gathered, and opportunities that move forward.
Successful ramp-up will be based on training progress and performance metrics along the way, including call activity, contact quality, voicemail and email follow-up, documentation accuracy, pipeline movement, coachability, and ability to use agency systems correctly.
Compensation
Expected total compensation is approximately $23 to $35+ per hour when base pay and performance-based earnings are combined.
Compensation includes:
- Base pay of $18 to $22 per hour, depending on relevant experience, insurance licensing, and demonstrated qualifications
- $10 bonus for each qualified appointment that is held
- Additional $5 bonus when requested prospect information is received before the appointment
- Agency profitability bonus opportunities
- Possible future commission opportunities for qualified property and casualty licensed team members who take on additional responsibilities in the sales process
Actual earnings will vary based on experience, schedule, appointment production, documentation quality, agency profitability, and applicable licensed commission opportunities.
Schedule
- Approximately 20 to 25 hours per week to start
- Flexible daytime scheduling within agency business hours
- On-site in our Aurora, Colorado office
- Potential for hours to increase based on demonstrated success in the position, agency need, workflow, performance, and mutual agreement
- Potential to grow into a full-time position based on demonstrated success in the role and future agency need
This is not a remote or hybrid position.
What We’re Looking For
You do not need years of insurance experience to succeed here.
You do need to be comfortable talking to people, using technology, following up, and being accountable for your work.
Strong candidates will be:
- Comfortable and confident making outbound calls
- Comfortable speaking with business owners, managers, and decision-makers
- Friendly, direct, professional, and able to hold a natural conversation
- Persistent without being pushy
- Organized and reliable with follow-up
- Comfortable working independently in Microsoft 365, email, web-based systems, CRM software, and browser-based tools
- Able to navigate multiple systems, manage files and attachments, enter accurate information, and move efficiently between platforms
- Able to learn and use established systems and processes
- Able to document activity and keep accurate records without repeated reminders
- Coachable and willing to learn the process
- Self-directed after training and able to stay productive without constant supervision
- Comfortable working with activity goals, appointment goals, and other performance metrics
- Curious about business, insurance, risk management, or professional sales
Strong baseline computer skills are required.
We will train you on our systems, our processes, our sales approach, and the knowledge needed for the role.
We will not be teaching basic computer use.
Candidates should already be comfortable using email, Microsoft products, browser-based applications, online forms, shared files, attachments, multiple browser tabs, and basic business technology without step-by-step instruction.
Property and casualty insurance licensing is preferred but not required.
Commercial insurance, workers’ compensation, B2B sales, appointment setting, recruiting, business development, or other professional phone experience is a plus.
What This Role Is Not
This is not a high-volume call-center environment built around blindly dialing hundreds of numbers. Call volume alone does not equal success.
It is not a role for someone who wants a producer title before proving they can consistently generate qualified opportunities.
It is not a position where someone joins the agency and immediately wants to redesign systems, replace processes, or wait for us to change the technology stack before getting results.
It is not a clock-in, coast, clock-out position.
