Join Our Team! We're seeking an experienced, detail-driven Agricultural Senior Tax Preparer to join our tax team. This role prepares individual, fiduciary, non-profit, partnership, S-corporation, and C-corporation income tax returns, and supports payroll tax return preparation for our farm clients. You'll also provide year-end tax planning and consulting to our members and clients, review returns prepared by other team members, and mentor Tax Preparers on the team.
Agricultural tax experience is required for this role. We're looking for someone who already speaks the language of farm clients, income averaging, Schedule F, entity structuring for row-crop and livestock operations, and can walk into a client meeting on day one with credibility.
Because client meetings are a core part of this role, we're prioritizing candidates based in the MO/IL area who can meet with farm members and clients in or near Brighton, IL.

Why You'll Love This Role
Tax Return Preparation
- Prepare federal and state income tax returns for agricultural individuals, partnerships, corporations, S-corporations, and fiduciaries, including the more complex, higher-difficulty returns assigned within the team
Client & Member Consulting
- Deliver year-end tax planning meetings for assigned farm members and clients
- Meet with farm members and clients to review their tax return line-by-line, answering questions and explaining tax situations clearly
- Provide tax consulting for farm members and clients as needed
- Address questions and notices received from clients
Payroll Tax Support
- Support preparation of quarterly and annual payroll reporting for our clients as needed
Research & Technical Guidance
- Research tax rules, reading, interpreting, and taking action
Review & Mentoring
- Review income tax and payroll tax returns prepared by other team members, providing feedback and technical guidance
- Provide mentoring, training, and technical guidance to Tax Preparers and other tax team members
Additional duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
- 7–10 years of public tax experience, agricultural tax experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- CPA or Enrolled Agent required
- Based in the MO/IL area, able to meet clients in or near Brighton, IL
- Experience with UltraTax and CFS Payroll tax software preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Willingness to learn AgManager® and CRM software
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex tax and financial information clearly
- Ability to interpret financial statements and apply tax rules to member and client situations
