Full Job Description

Assistant Manager – Maru Sushi + Bar | Brighton

Maru combines unique, beautifully presented signature rolls with a modern-yet-organic atmosphere to create a memorable dining experience. We pride ourselves on warm hospitality, chef-driven operations, hands-on mentorship, and a culture built around the Creative Yes. We are seeking an Assistant Manager for our NEW Brighton location who is passionate about both hospitality and culinary excellence and is ready to help lead a high-performing team.

What We're Looking For:

Upholds and enhances the Maru culture through positive leadership and accountability
Builds strong relationships with team members through coaching, mentorship, and daily engagement
Comfortable leading both front-of-house and kitchen operations
Culinary background preferred, or a willingness and ability to work alongside and support the kitchen team
Teaches and develops staff through hands-on training and real-time feedback
Practices empathetic listening and effective communication
Assists with scheduling, labor management, and maintaining proper staffing levels
Helps manage inventory, ordering, and operational systems
Understands food, beverage, and labor cost controls
Maintains high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and execution
Builds guest loyalty by creating exceptional dining experiences and resolving concerns professionally

What Will Help You Succeed:

Previous restaurant experience required
Minimum of two years of management experience in a full-service restaurant preferred
Experience working in a kitchen or culinary environment strongly preferred
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Professional demeanor, appearance, and communication skills
Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 10 hours)
Able to safely lift and maneuver items weighing up to 25 pounds
Able to communicate effectively with guests, managers, and team members across all departments
