Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Industry Engagement Specialist provides administrative, outreach, and logistical support to NRWIB’s Employer Partnerships Manager and employer-led Regional Sector Partnerships (RSPs) in manufacturing, healthcare, and architecture, engineering and construction. The position combines organized back-office coordination with direct employer communication, meeting and event support, and field-based relationship building. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, technologically capable, and comfortable communicating by phone, email, and in person with employers and community partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employer and RSP Engagement

Provide day-to-day coordination support to the Employer Partnerships Manager and NRWIB’s manufacturing, healthcare, and architecture, engineering and construction RSPs.
Conduct professional phone, email, and in-person outreach to employers, RSP members and prospects, business associations, training providers, and community partners.
Research employers; schedule and participate in meetings and site visits; identify business and workforce needs; and connect employers with appropriate NRWIB staff, programs, training resources, and services.
Support RSP member recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and reengagement, as well as employer-led committees and working groups.
Carry out timely follow-up on employer inquiries, referrals, commitments, requested information, and partnership action items.

Meetings and Events

Coordinate the full logistics for RSP meetings, employer roundtables, technical-assistance sessions, hiring events, industry tours, presentations, conferences, and stakeholder convenings, including scheduling, invitations, registration, facilities, virtual access, vendors, catering, and materials.
Prepare and distribute agendas, presentations, briefing materials, meeting notes, action items, and related communications.
Provide on-site setup, registration, employer greeting, troubleshooting, transportation of materials, breakdown, and other day-of support.

Information and Administrative Management

Maintain one accurate, current system of employer contacts, RSP membership and leadership, outreach history, prospects, attendance, relationship notes, commitments, deadlines, and follow-up using Excel and other approved shared tools.
Draft, proofread, format, and organize employer correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, talking points, program summaries, and reusable templates using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Maintain orderly electronic files and handle employer, participant, grant, and organizational information with appropriate confidentiality and discretion.

Workforce, Grant, Technology, and Field Support

Develop a working knowledge of the public workforce system, NRWIB employer services, grant-funded initiatives, and the RSP model in order to communicate approved information accurately.
Collect and organize employer documentation and support technical assistance, grant reporting, compliance records, and deadline tracking as assigned.
Use Microsoft 365 and approved generative AI tools to improve employer research, communications, meeting preparation, information organization, and recurring workflows; review all AI-assisted work and follow NRWIB privacy, security, confidentiality, and responsible-use requirements.
Travel throughout NRWIB’s 41-community region and elsewhere in Connecticut using a reliable personal vehicle for employer meetings, site visits, events, and partner activities; mileage will be reimbursed as applicable.

Qualifications: Required

Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
At least three years of relevant experience in administrative coordination, employer outreach, business development, stakeholder relations, workforce or economic development, grants, events, or program support.
General understanding of grants, workforce development, public programs, and business services.
Strong organizational, writing, telephone, interpersonal, time-management, and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently or collaboratively.
Comfort meeting new people, initiating outreach, visiting unfamiliar workplaces, attending business events, and representing an organization professionally.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams, plus familiarity with generative AI in a professional environment.
Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, appropriate automobile insurance, and willingness and ability to travel throughout Northwest Connecticut and elsewhere in Connecticut as required.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public administration, marketing, economic development, workforce development, or a related field.
Experience supporting employer partnerships, sector partnerships, industry associations, chambers, advisory groups, or other multi-stakeholder initiatives.
Experience in a nonprofit, government, education, workforce, economic-development, business-services, or grant-funded setting.

What Success Looks Like

The Industry Engagement Specialist directly supports the Employer Partnerships Manager by coordinating employer outreach, maintaining partnership records, organizing meetings and events, preparing communications and materials, and ensuring timely follow-up. This day-to-day operational support allows the Employer Partnerships Manager to devote greater attention to cultivating high-value employer relationships, developing new business and partnership opportunities, advancing employer-led priorities, and providing strategic leadership to NRWIB’s Regional Sector Partnerships.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
