Full Job Description

Middlesex Eye Physicians is hiring a Medical Receptionist/Assistant for our Middletown office

As one of Middlesex Counties, most established, comprehensive eye care facilities, Middlesex Eye Physicians located in Middletown, Old Saybrook, Guilford and East Haven, offers a team of highly qualified eye care professionals. Our skilled surgeons and optometrists have dedicated their careers to providing high-quality patient care in a safe, comfortable environment.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our front office team in Middletown. The successful candidate will work in the shoreline practices.

Primary Duties

Patient experience advocate through friendly, engaging demeanor
Attention to detail through check-in, check-out, and appointment scheduling activities
Working the patient eligibility cue
Use of Klara patient engagement tool for patient communication, scheduling and response to patient inquiries
Collection of patient copays, deductibles and outstanding balances
Confident messaging with patient to take a credit card on file.
Answering incoming phone calls with attention to detail and follow through with tasks required from the call.

Secondary Duties / Back Up

Support second office directly onsite or indirectly as needed
Work in a rotation with other members of the team to handle similar duties away from the front desk
Assist with physician schedule changes and the impact on patients
Processing new patient referrals
Processing medical record requests

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Experienced candidates with prior work history in an optometry or ophthalmology practice required.
Appointment scheduling
Patient financial matters including copay, deductible, open balance collections
Technology use related to patient check-in, check out
Knowledge of patient insurance, vision plans and eligibility transactions.
Prior experience handling a high volume of patient calls.
Prior experience with Modernizing Medicine PM a plus

Must have excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills; Highly organized, strong work ethic, work well in a team environment, prompt, reliable, and the ability to multi-task.
