Full Job Description

A senior technician role first and a working-foreman role when assigned work requires a crew. This is a hands-on field position, not a desk-supervisor role.

Pay: $36-$42 per hour, based on relevant experience, leadership capability and certifications; overtime after 8 hours in a day.

Location: Gilmanton, New Hampshire, with regional field work throughout New England and into Upstate New York.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, with a typical 5:30 a.m. start. Spring through fall is our busiest season; workdays may extend to about 11 hours and occasionally 12, with overtime paid after 8 hours. Occasional overnights. No winter layoffs.

Work mix: Inspections, service calls, repairs, short field projects and occasional multi-week work.

Predictability: No 24/7 on-call rotation, no regular weekend work and no winter layoffs.

About Lakes Region Fuel Systems

Lakes Region Fuel Systems is a specialty contractor and distributor that inspects, services, troubleshoots, repairs, retrofits, installs and sells parts for commercial fuel storage, transfer, dispensing, monitoring and control systems. We work at schools, hospitals, public works and fleet facilities, airports, universities, state and municipal sites and other critical facilities across New England and into northern New York. We are a long-established specialty contractor entering our next phase of growth, with continued investment in our people, training, technology, and operating systems. This role offers the opportunity to help strengthen our field standards, develop other technicians, and grow into broader technical leadership as the company expands.

The Role

We are hiring an experienced senior technician who can independently handle service and inspection work and lead technicians when an assignment requires a crew. The work ranges from individual inspections and service calls to short repairs and retrofits, tank projects and occasional larger installations.

What You Will Do

Perform inspections and scheduled or unplanned service on aboveground and underground tanks, piping, dispensing, transfer, monitoring and control systems.
Diagnose and repair pumps, motors, meters, valves, hoses, fittings, sensors, probes, alarms, leak-detection equipment and tank-monitoring systems, including Omntec, Pneumercator and Veeder-Root.
Complete mechanical repairs and retrofits, including layout, cutting, threading and fitting of commercial fuel piping, component replacement, leak correction and testing.
Lead assigned field work when a crew is required: plan the day, assign tasks, identify labor, materials, equipment, access and safety needs, and work alongside the team.
Communicate repair needs, field conditions, scope changes, progress and follow-up clearly to field operations, project management, customers and inspectors.
Maintain complete photographs, notes, forms, inspection results and digital job documentation.
Coach developing technicians and maintain high standards for safety, quality, professionalism and knowledge-sharing.

What We Are Looking For

Five or more years of relevant experience in commercial fuel systems, petroleum equipment, industrial mechanical service or a closely related field.
Strong system-level troubleshooting and practical commercial or industrial pipefitting skills.
Experience independently running service work and/or leading a crew or jobsite.
Working knowledge of basic electrical or control systems and the ability to read plans, diagrams and equipment manuals.
Clear communication, complete documentation, sound field judgment and professional conduct with customers, inspectors and teammates.
Clean driving record; ability to work outdoors, start early, perform physical field work.
Ability to accommodate occasional one- or two-night assignments and rare longer trips.
Ability to satisfy customer and regulatory requirements for certain sites, which may include background checks or drug screening.
Direct experience with AST/UST systems, bulk fueling, generator-fuel systems, tank monitoring, regulated facilities, manufacturer certifications is strongly preferred.

ICC Certifications: U1, U2, and U5

ICC U1 - UST Installation/Retrofitting, ICC U2 – UST Decommissioning, and ICC U5 - AST Installation/Retrofitting certifications are strongly preferred. Strong candidates without these licenses will be considered if they are willing and able to obtain them promptly on an agreed schedule. The company pays for approved study materials, exam fees,and paid study time. Hourly wage increases are tied to earning applicable ICC certifications, including U1, U2, and U5.
