The Barker House in Plympton, MA is looking for an experienced, dog-centered Handler to join our team full time. 35-40 hours per week, every Sunday & rotating weekdays.
WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN US, YOU ASK??
We are a well-established dog care company that invests in our employees just as we do our clients. Full- and part-time Dog Handlers earn a competitive wage, plus perks such as drinks and snacks during the day, discounts on merchandise & services, employee apparel, opportunities to bring your dog to work & team appreciation days.
WHO IS THE BARKER HOUSE?
The Barker House is a premium dog daycare, boarding, and grooming facility in Plympton, MA. We built this place for dogs and their people who expect more than the basics. Real care. Real attention. A team that actually knows every dog's name and every dog's quirks.
We are not looking for someone to fill a shift. We are looking for an experienced dog care professional who takes this work seriously, who reads a room of dogs the way a good handler always has, and who wants to be part of a team that treats this as a craft, not a job to get through.
ARE YOU A GOOD FIT?
You are a good fit if you have real hands-on experience with dogs and know how to read a room full of them at once. You do not need someone to tell you when a play session is turning, you already see it. You take initiative without being asked twice, you show up on time because the dogs are counting on you, and you care enough to notice the small things, a limp, a change in appetite, a dog having an off day. You want to work somewhere that takes this as seriously as you do.
THE LIFE OF A DOG HANDLER
As a Dog Handler at The Barker House, you create safe, healthy environments where dogs can play and thrive, both inside the facility and out in the yards. You supervise group play with a trained eye, stepping in before a moment turns and reading energy the way an experienced handler always can. Beyond supervision, you work directly with the dogs on enrichment, structured activities, that keep their minds as engaged as their bodies. You reinforce good manners and basic training cues throughout the day, so every dog leaves a little better than they arrived. With keen attention to detail, you maintain the cleanliness of the facility, vacuuming, dusting, washing floors, scrubbing walls, cleaning food and water containers, disinfecting suites, and removing trash and animal waste. Yard work may include shoveling, ice removal, water removal, and animal waste and debris removal. Your hard work, your training instincts, and your genuine love for dogs ensure that every dog in our care is happy, engaged, and well cared for.
