Summary:
The Supervisor, Cardiac Rehab is responsible for the planning, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of cardiac patient education and rehabilitation activities. This individual coordinates patient activities in the inpatient (Phase I) area and outpatient areas (Phase II and III) of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. Responsibilities also include assisting with exercise therapy sessions, exercise testing sessions, as needed in the patient screening evaluations, the planning of patient programs, the completion of progress notes and reports, and coordination of educational lectures for patients and other staff members. Must be willing to cross train to other skill areas as necessary. This position will demonstrate competency in the care of patients age 18 to 100+.
This position has the responsibility of all hiring of staff, training and evaluation of staff and making decisions pertaining to dismissal of their staff for valid reasons. The supervision of this department is expected to be carried out with minimal involvement from their superiors.
The Cardiopulmonary Rehab Supervisor position requires infrequent travel and collaboration with other Ballad facilities in the coordination of systems, policies, procedures and workflow of the other Cardiac Rehab departments. This position is also responsible for achieving and maintaining program certification through a nationally recognized program such as AACVPR.
The Cardiaopulmonary Rehab Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the care of the assigned patients. He/she has a working knowledge of the nursing process and demonstrates skill in developing and guiding collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care. He/she demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of our patients and caregivers. The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence based cardiovascular and pulmonary practices, and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. He/she actively participates in continuous quality/performance improvement of patient care through data collection, as well as, interpreting/evaluating the data and planning actions. The Cardiopulmonary Rehab Supervisor serves as a professional role model as a caregiver, mentor, teacher and resource for peers and other providers.
It is vital that an individual in this position be capable of good communication skills. It is of the utmost importance that written communication is legible.

Cardiopulmonary Rehab Supervisor is expected to support the RN oversight for all of the LPN’s patients and therefore must ensure reporting from the LPN happens in a timely, appropriate and complete manner. The cardiopulmonary Rehab Supervisor is expected to support the professional growth of team members reporting to him/her through the encouragement of certifications and career ladder participation with minimal supervisory involvement as to foster autonomy and empowerment among the team.

Requirements:
Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing and current licensure in the appropriate state, BLS and ACLS certification required.

A Bachelor of Science Degree is required with a Master's Degree preferred in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education or other exercise related field from and accredited program; He/She must have or obtain during the first year of employment, ACSM certification Must have minimum 5 years Cardiovascular or Critical Care experience. 2 years management experience preferred.
CONTINUING EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Plans and conducts a minimum of two hours of job related educational programs.
2. Obtains 12 hours educational credit.
3. Verbalizes understanding of Shared Governance Model and willingly serves on at least one Shared Governance, hospital committee, task force, or project to improve patient care or work area.
4. Identifies relevant patient care and/or nursing practice KIQ’s (key indicators of quality). This is achieved by using PDCA methodology and the appropriate data collection, aggregation, analysis and trending in the demonstration of measurable improvement outcomes.
5. Attends 75% of staff meetings and reads 100% of the minutes of the meetings missed.
