Full Job Description

Gateway Counseling Center, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit that provides services to adults with developmental disabilities, as well as adults with mental illness. Gateway’s mission is to enhance the lives of others through our program services, which are designed to increase independence and functioning through person-centered and goal-based care. Our programs operate 7-days a week and the agency provides to-and-from transportation to our service recipients, at no cost to them so that services are accessible for those who may benefit from our care.

Schedules:

Bronx Full Time Morning/Afternoon Schedule: Monday 10:00am to 6:00pm, Tuesday/Wednesday: 9:00am to 7:00pm, Thursday/Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Queens Part Time Evening Schedule: Monday to Friday 3:00pm to 8:00pm
Queens/Brooklyn Part Time Evening Schedule: Monday/ Tuesday 5:00pm to 8:00pm and Wednesday/Thursday 3:00pm to 7:00pm

Gateway Counseling Center is looking for potential candidates who are self-driven and share a love for supporting and working with adults with special needs.

Our Community Habilitation program provides services to adult individuals with intellectual disabilities on a one-on-one basis. Individuals enrolled in our program are assigned a Community Habilitation Worker who will assist the individuals with specific activities to accomplish their goals. The program's ultimate goal is to support individuals to develop their skills and become more independent within the home and in the community. These goals range from completing house chores independently, academics, and even navigating successfully within their community (travel training).

Potential Candidates will be responsible for working one on one with clients and assisting them with their goals. We are looking for candidates who show initiative, are dependable, organized, and provide the skill set to teach individuals with special needs. Candidates will be responsible for facilitating one-on-one sessions, completing necessary chart work, and coordinating and attending Life plan meetings.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience: Associate’s or Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Health or Human Services or related field from accredited college or university; 6 months to 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
