Katzman Produce, a leading produce wholesaler/distributor based in NYC, is seeking a Cashier to join our team. Our cashier team is responsible for our great level of customer service at Katzman Produce. Throughout your shift you will be responsible for cashing out customers using a variety of payment methods such as cash, check, or credit cards for all purchases.

This position is working in the market so will require sitting or standing for 8-10 hours. Our cashiers need to be capable of handling large volumes of transactions in a fast paced environment. They are detail oriented, highly organized and excel in customer service. Aside form assisting customers you will also be supporting the sales team with invoice related questions and addressing any discrepancies in a friendly and courteous manner.

While You Are Here You Will:

Follow company procedures when collecting monetary payments, including but not limited to:

o Credit Card: verify identification, obtain signatures, close credit card machines for settled batches, and maintain transactions receipts and balances at the end of shift.

o Check: Verify identification, ensure checks are within produce relations, partner with salesmen to ensure checks are signed and approved prior to customer submitting payment, and that written amount and numerical amount are identical.

o Cash: Ensure proper cash is received, and appropriate change is given, and each bill is processed through the counting machine for fraud prevention.

Communicate and follow up with Customers regarding bounced checks.
Responsible for reconciling tickets, reviewing documents for accuracy, and scanning records into the database.
Perform accounts receivable collections. Communicate account issues to the accounting office when issues arise.
Review pick tickets and ensure all non-cash tickets are signed by customers, and changes are updated in the computer.
Inform foreman/supervisors of outstanding issues with pick tickets to ensure timely resolution.
Communicate effectively with peers and supervisors; inform all relevant parties regarding discrepancies or any other issues that arise throughout shift.
Follows daily procedures; including but not limited to the proper opening/closing procedures, printing/reviewing daily end report, ensuring drawer is accurately balanced, and posting batches.
Retain proper documentation for funds collected during shift, accompanied by “daily day end total sheet” and “detailed tape”.
Attention to detail regarding the activities of each customer and payments made.
Maintains organized filing systems and keeps track of customer account information.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a high-volume cashier, preferably in banking or check-cashing environments
Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience
Must be flexible and adaptable to business needs
Strong attention to detail required
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills required
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Must be flexible in scheduling
